Top Selling Pokémon Cards on TCGplayer: August 2026

The first step to serving customer demand is to understand it. So to help you follow what’s currently popular with players and collectors, we’ve put together a pair of downloadable CSV reports of the top-selling Pokémon cards of the past month.

These reports show the name and set of the Pokémon cards with the highest total number of copies sold on the TCGplayer Marketplace between August 1 and 30, 2026. The reports consider cards from different sets to be distinct (even if they have the same name), but do not distinguish copies sold by condition (Near Mint, Lightly Played, etc.) or by printing (Foil, etc.).

The two reports cover cards that had an average sale price in August within two ranges: $50.00 or more, and $1.00 to $49.99.

Here are five highlights from each report.

Top Selling Pokémon Cards: $50 or More

#1 Mega Gengar ex - 269/217
Set: Ascended Heroes
Average Sale Price: $57.15

Gengar cards have been making headlines for months, and they only got more attention once SIR Mega Gengar ex dropped at the start of the year. It’s hard to tell what’s cause and what’s effect, but Gengar fever has spread to cards that wouldn’t normally be considered chases, like this Mega Attack Rare version of Mega Gengar ex.

#2 Charmander - 044
Set: SV: Scarlet & Violet Promo Cards
Average Sale Price: $57.67

This promo card of Charmander staring daggers at the Pidgey outside its window completes a trio of cards with the Squirtle and Bulbasaur Illustration Rares in Stellar Crown.

Their recent growth could just be a natural effect of them aging—Gen I Pokémon do that.

#3 Mega Darkrai ex - 116/084
Set: Pitch Black
Average Sale Price: $227.73

We’re currently in a bit of a downturn for the Pokémon TCG market. Both booster boxes and chase cards from recent sets have all dropped in price in the past few months as new supply has entered the market and finally caught up with the demand.

Given that environment, buying or ripping boxes feels worse than usual. Fans who want this Darkrai, the #1 chase card in Pitch Black, have taken advantage of sinking prices to grab it as a single instead of gambling on packs.

#4 Mega Zeraora ex - 114/084
Set: Pitch Black
Average Sale Price: $62.97

Similarly, with less incentive to rip boxes, more fans are picking up other chase cards from Pitch Black as singles instead, including this Mega Zeraora ex.

#5 Charizard VSTAR - SWSH262
Set: Sword & Shield Promo Cards
Average Sale Price: $73.14

The summer slump has also brought down the price of this old promo card that mirrors the Mewtwo VSTAR from the Crown Zenith Galarian Gallery. In turn, sales have risen slightly to take advantage of the price drop.

Top Selling Pokémon Cards: $1.00 to $49.99

#1 Slowpoke - 086 (Cosmos Holo)
Set: Mega Evolution
Average Sale Price: $1.82

The amount of speculation on this (admittedly charming) sealed promo is nuts. In August, we’ve never had a day when the average number of copies per buyer for this card fell below 5.8. On the other hand, there have been eight days when that number exceeded 15.0.

Be aware that the vast majority of the demand for this card does not look organic.

#2 Hilda
Set: White Flare
Average Sale Price: $1.17

Another generically powerful Trainer card that hasn‘t been reprinted in many sets and is able to stay over $1. Players need playsets, so they sell quickly.

#3 Meowth ex - 062/088
Set: Perfect Order
Average Sale Price: $2.34

By far the most important playable from Perfect Order, Meowth will be a staple of competitive Pokémon as long as it remains legal in Standard. So far, it’s only been printed in one set, so the supply is fairly low.

#4 Mega Excadrill ex - 065/084
Set: Pitch Black
Average Sale Price: $1.00

Pitch Black had very little impact on Standard, but Mega Excadrill ex was one of the few new attackers that has seen any play.

#5 Dunsparce
Set: Journey Together
Average Sale Price: $2.13

Players who run Dudunsparce as their draw engine are defaulting to this version of Dunsparce as its pre-evolution, since it’s the only Dunsparce in Standard that can survive a Phantom Dive.
