Top Selling Magic: The Gathering Cards on TCGplayer: August 2026

The first step to serving customer demand is to understand it. So to help you follow what’s currently popular with players and collectors, we’ve put together a pair of downloadable CSV reports of the top-selling Magic: The Gathering cards of the past month.
These reports show the name and set of the Magic cards with the highest total number of copies sold on the TCGplayer Marketplace between August 1 and 28, 2026. The reports consider cards from different sets to be distinct (even if they have the same name), but do not distinguish copies sold by condition (Near Mint, Lightly Played, etc.) or by printing (Foil, etc.).
The two reports cover cards that had an average sale price in July within two ranges: $50.00 or more, and $1.00 to $49.99.
Here are five highlights from each report.
Top Selling Magic Cards: $50 or More
#1 The Mind Stone
Set: Marvel Super Heroes
Average Sale Price: $61.11
The Mind Stone, which is awfully-named given that we have Mind Stone in MTG already, is an excellent mana rock which eventually lets you blink creatures once per turn. While we’d argue that The Soul Stone is actually stronger, this one is newer, and people are clamoring to pick up a copy for themselves.
#2 Gleaming Splendor (Borderless)
Set: The Hobbit
Average Sale Price: $103.68
You’d think that wizards would stop printing enchantments that just spit out treasure tokens, but no. This one not only makes you a treasure token in nearly every turn, but also lets you dole out card draw as you see fit if you’ve got the mana to do so. This is the gorgeous borderless variant too, which looks like it could be a book cover.
#3 Smaug the Magnificent (Showcase)
Set: Avatar: The Hobbit
Average Sale Price: $62.06
All of the Smaug variants have been popular, but this one is arguably the most powerful in the most formats. This dragon can attack as soon as it comes into play, and deals damage to any target equal to the number of treasure tokens you control. It also makes a treasure token in your upkeep. This showcase version is a thing of beauty, but the power of these four-mana dragons with haste is legendary at this point.
#4 The Arkenstone (Borderless)
Set: The Hobbit
Average Sale Price: $70.46
This one has nothing to do with The Soul Stone or The Mind Stone, but The Arkenstone can still put in a lot of work. You can first cast it as a sorcery to fetch up a legendary creature of your choice, making it amazing in Commander. Then it’s a five-mana artifact which gives all of your creatures a +1/+1 buff, and lets you draw a card in your end step. It just does a bit of everything, and this variant is especially pretty.
#5 Dain of the Ancient Halls (Extended Art)
Set: The Hobbit: Eternal-Legal
Average Sale Price: $59.28
Dain of the Ancient Halls is the lone eternal-legal card on the list, but it’s easy to see why. The new kindred Commanders are always going to do well, and with dwarves being a popular but undersupported one, Dain has a lot going for it. It’s a very aggressive five-mana red and white creature with vigilance and haste, and it deals damage equal to the number of dwarves you control to each opponent when it attacks. This means it’s a good threat as soon as you play it, and that’s true whether it’s turn five and you’ve only got a handful of dwarves, or it’s turn ten and you’ve got an army.
Top Selling Magic Cards: $1.00 to $49.99
#1 Radagast of Rhosgobel
Set: The Hobbit
Average Sale Price: $2.40
The Hobbit has a lot of amazing cards, but while a lot of them are flashy, there’s something homely about Radagast of Rhosgobel. It gives you two mana off the first creature you cast each turn, and it lets you cast them with flash. Being able to suddenly have creatures is great, but this combo of abilities means you can effectively net yourself eight mana every round in Commander.
#2 Wizard's Staff
Set: The Hobbit
Average Sale Price: $5.37
Wizard’s Staff has been an obvious choice since it was previewed. It’s cheap, it gives prowess, which is an incredible ability in and of itself, but it also makes any triggered abilities of the equipped creature trigger twice. Not only does that mean prowess is doubled, but it also means that the creature it's equipped to is twice as good too.
Given how many potent abilities we have on creatures with blue on them, including the notorious Vivi Ornitier, it’s easy to see why this is doing so well.
#3 Belladonna Took
Set: The Hobbit
Average Sale Price: $3.17
Belladonna Took is a card which every token-loving player should be scrabbling for. It grants you one life the first time a token under your control enters, then lets you draw a card the second time, and the third time it happens you put a +1/+1 counter on each creature you control. It’s laughably easy to get three tokens into play at a time, and you can do that on other peoples’ turns a lot in Commander too.
#4 Bilbo's Gambit
Set: The Hobbit
Average Sale Price: $2.85
White gets a lot of fun twists on other parts of the color pie, and this is one of them. Bilbo’s Gambit lets you put a spell back in its owner's hand. However, if you let an opponent make a treasure token as you cast it, you can also stop all players from casting spells for the rest of the turn.
This can be an amazing political move, to bolster someone who’s currently on your side, while also stopping a combo player from doing anything else for the rest of the turn. It’s a little mean, but that’s fun to do in white sometimes.
#5 Kili the Resourceful
Set: The Hobbit
Average Sale Price: $1.21
Kili the Resourceful gives you an enduring story if you control three or more artifacts, legendaries, or sagas. That lasts for the rest of the game, and while that’s active, it lets you pay zero mana to equip a card the first time you do so each turn. That’s amazing for cards like Colossus Hammer, which are low-cost with high equip costs. It also lets you draw another card each turn, as long as you can get a dwarf or equipment into play.
