Q2 Update on Our Strategy: Steady Progress Building Momentum in Supporting Sellers

Index

TCGplayer is building on strong momentum in 2026, with meaningful improvements already delivered across the seller experience. Recent updates, including more transparent and predictable fee structures, dedicated seller storefronts, and continued enhancements to Authentication Center operations, represent important steps toward making it easier for sellers to operate, grow, and connect with buyers on the Marketplace.

At the same time, we are investing in the modernization of our core platform and infrastructure. While much of this work happens behind the scenes, it is creating a stronger, more flexible foundation that enables us to deliver new capabilities faster, respond more effectively to evolving market needs, and scale alongside the businesses we serve. Combined with strategic partnerships, record-setting marketplace promotions, and international expansion efforts that continue to grow buyer demand, these investments are helping create more opportunities for sellers today while positioning the marketplace for even greater growth in the years ahead.

A Consistent Vision For Seller Growth in 2026

Feedback has been consistent that progress matters most when it directly supports your ability to operate efficiently, scale confidently, and reach more buyers. That feedback continues to shape our priorities, and it’s why our strategic focus remains unchanged in 2026.

TCGplayer's Strategic Priorities

  • Driving buyer engagement by bringing a wider and deeper audience to the TCGplayer Marketplace.
  • Enhancing the selling experience by making it easier to digitize, price, list, and manage large volumes of inventory, especially for sellers looking to grow and operate at scale.
  • Delivering scalable fulfillment solutions that save time, expand inventory reach, and create a consistently strong buyer experience.
  • Scaling infrastructure: Investing in the people, processes, and technology needed to help sellers operate more efficiently and scale with confidence, ensuring the platform can support growth without sacrificing performance or reliability.
  • Building trust: Strengthening safeguards and marketplace standards to protect both buyers and sellers, creating a more trusted environment where sellers can grow with confidence. At the same time, we're building a stronger foundation for platform security and marketplace safety, enabling us to deliver new capabilities faster while continuing to strengthen trust as the market evolves.

Buyer Engagement

Connecting Sellers with More Buyers through Marketplace Growth and International Expansion

  • Mayhem, our largest store credit promotion of the year, drove record buyer traffic and sales during a seasonally slower period. By offering buyers 8%+ store credit on eligible purchases and supporting the promotion with targeted advertising, game-specific email campaigns, and optimized search experiences, we brought more shoppers than ever before in a single sales day to your storefronts and encouraged repeat purchases. To help sellers capitalize on this demand, we continue to provide regular understocked and in-demand product reports throughout promotional periods and beyond. Be sure to visit the Seller Blog or subscribe to our newsletter to stay informed on the latest opportunities and marketplace trends.
  • We recently announced our partnership with Legend Story Studios, a New Zealand-based game design and publishing studio that created Flesh and Blood. Starting this fall, TCGplayer will display the GEM Store badge on verified local game stores that foster community through hosting sanctioned Flesh and Blood events. This badge will let buyers know they’re purchasing Flesh and Blood products from a trusted retailer, so that customers can shop confidently and you can stand out. Flesh and Blood will also be added later this year to Scan & Identify and Roca to help sellers organize, price, and list Flesh and Blood inventory easily.
  • We continue growing the marketplace and our product offerings to attract more buyers. Later this month, TCGplayer will be launching support for all current English releases of CookieRun: Braverse TCG including all first five booster sets and first five starter decks based on the five cookie colors. Sellers can now list their inventory for Cookierun: Braverse TCG prior to the game’s launch on Marketplace.

International Expansion:

  • In March, TCGplayer launched a limited pilot program for Canadian sellers, expanding access to our global Marketplace and connecting sellers with millions of buyers across the U.S., Canada, and beyond. If you operate a brick-and-mortar store or have an established online business in Canada, you can apply to join the program. Our team will review submissions and reach out as additional spots become available.
  • Seller protections are now expanded to cover tracked Marketplace orders for singles that go missing in transit within Canada or between the U.S and Canada. Both singles and sealed products are now protected when tracked packages go missing, so sellers can list and ship internationally with more confidence. To grow your business and reach buyers in Canada, select “Enable International Orders” in the “My Details” tab in the Seller Portal.
  • We continue to partner with Buy&Ship, MyUS, and Estafeta so sellers can access international markets without altering their existing workflows. Our international package forwarding partners ensure seamless international delivery by allowing sellers to ship the order to a US address and then handling all the logistics. Buyers using these services are required to resolve missing package issues directly with the forwarder, allowing you to run your business without interruptions.

Seller Experience

Enhancing the Seller Experience with Dedicated Seller Pages:

  • In early May, we introduced dedicated seller storefronts, an updated seller page where sellers can showcase their full inventory in one shoppable destination. Sellers now have a unique URL on the TCGplayer Marketplace that combines their shop and feedback in one place. The shop section showcases all listings directly on the main page, making it easy for millions of buyers to explore available inventory without any added steps. This update introduces new ways to share and promote TCGplayer listings with email campaigns or through social media, allowing sellers to meet customers where they are.

Fulfillment Solutions

Seller Feedback Directly Shapes Our Fulfillment Roadmap

With our unwavering foundational strategy, our goal over the next two years is delivering tangible improvements tied directly to seller needs:

  • TCGplayer Direct Fees
    • In May, we announced the elimination of SRCs and the implementation of a new item-based fee structure starting June 18th. This change will give sellers a clearer, more predictable way to make pricing decisions with more confidence.
  • TCGplayer Managed Inventory
    • We remain on track to launch a pilot of TCGplayer Managed Inventory with a select group of sellers this summer. Sellers will be able to send inventory to our Authentication Center, where TCGplayer will manage storage, shipping, and customer support, reducing operational complexity while providing buyers with a consistent experience. If you are interested in participating in the pilot or learning more, please sign up here.
  • Continuing our work to make TCGplayer Direct a scalable, low-cost solution
    • We continue to scale TCGplayer Direct with seller needs in mind. At the end of June, Moderately Played conditioned cards will no longer be eligible for sale in TCGplayer Direct. This change helps streamline fulfillment operations and focus the program on the highest-demand card conditions. It also lays the foundation for new infrastructure that will enable us to reintroduce additional card conditions and add new game categories in the future.

Trust

Strengthening Trust Across the Marketplace:

  • Trust is essential to a healthy marketplace. That's why we're continuing to invest in stronger seller verification, enhanced fraud prevention measures, and clearer policies with enforcement that help ensure a fair and consistent customer experience. These efforts are designed to protect listing integrity, reduce fraud-related disruptions, and give buyers and sellers greater confidence when transacting on TCGplayer.
  • In April, we audited API access and removed credentials being used to support any non-approved marketplaces or tools. We are committed to keeping the marketplace safe from listings or operations on non-approved marketplaces.

Scalable Infrastructure

Refined Seller Escalation Pathways:

  • In July, we will be refreshing our Chatbot with a more personalized experience. The updated flows will be easier to navigate, helping sellers find answers faster. Over time, this customization will deliver a stronger long-term seller experience through relevant, clear support.

Your feedback helps prioritize and shape what we build. A close connection with sellers is essential to our work, and we’ll keep gathering feedback through beta testing, industry events, Net Promoter Score efforts, and Customer Advisory Board, as well as store visits and everyday conversations. Our priority is to build a strong foundation with practical, seller-first progress across tools, policies, support, and processes to support seller growth.
