Top Selling Pokémon Cards on TCGplayer: January 2026

The first step to serving customer demand is to understand it. So to help you follow what’s currently popular with players and collectors, we’ve put together a pair of downloadable CSV reports of the top-selling Pokémon cards of the past month.

These reports show the name and set of the Pokémon cards with the highest total number of copies sold on the TCGplayer Marketplace between January 1 and 28, 2026. The reports consider cards from different sets to be distinct (even if they have the same name), but do not distinguish copies sold by condition (Near Mint, Lightly Played, etc.) or by printing (Foil, etc.).

The two reports cover cards that had an average sale price in January within two ranges: $50.00 or more, and $1.00 to $49.99.

Here are five highlights from each report.

Top Selling Pokémon Cards: $50 or More

#1 Mew ex - 053
Set: Scarlet & Violet Promo Cards
Average Sale Price: $51.85

This promo card, originally distributed in the 151 Ultra-Premium Collection, was the target of buyouts throughout 2025. January’s actually been a fairly quiet month for it, with sustained sales and no single day when the average number of copies per buyer rose above 3.4. The fact that it’s still the top card in this price bracket shows how much the Pokémon market has calmed down compared to last year.

#2 Charizard VSTAR - SWSH262
Set: Sword & Shield Promo Cards
Average Sale Price: $53.77

This promo from the Sword & Shield Ultra-Premium Collection: Charizard—and its mirror, the Mewtwo VSTAR from the Crown Zenith Galarian Gallery—rose in price dramatically over September due to small-scale (but persistent) buyouts. Those mini-buyouts have continued into 2026, with an average of 5.8 copies per buyer on January 21.

#3 Ancient Mew
Set: Miscellaneous Cards & Products
Average Sale Price: $67.71

A huge buyout on January 16 (Averaging 21.0 copies per buyer) spiked Ancient Mew out of the dip it had been languishing in since December and into this month’s list of bestselling cards.

#4 Venusaur ex - 198/165
Set: Scarlet & Violet—151
Average Sale Price: $74.41

All the Special Illustration Rare Pokémon from Scarlet & Violet—151 boast an impressive sales volume every month. But in January, Venusaur ex topped them all thanks to a few mini-buyout days on the 2nd, 15th, and 27th, when the average number of copies per buyer reached 4.9, 7.3, and 4.8 respectively.

#5 Charizard ex - 223/197
Set: Obsidian Flames
Average Sale Price: $71.28

The original Special Illustration Rare version of Tera Charizard bounced back in December and January after relatively tepid sales in October and November, during which collectors were focused on the shinier, newer Charizard cards from Phantasmal Flames.

Top Selling Pokémon Cards: $1.00 to $49.99

#1 Mega Gengar ex
Set: Phantasmal Flames
Average Sale Price: $3.39

Gengar cards have been selling like haunted hotcakes all across the market. Because Phantasmal Flames doesn’t have any Illustration Rare-style Gengar cards, collectors have been making due with the base-rarity version until they can nab the SIR from Ascended Heroes.

#2 Mega Charizard X ex - 013/094
Set: Phantasmal Flames
Average Sale Price: $4.46

The base-rarity version of Mega Charizard X ex is also high on fans' wishlists simply by virtue of being a Mega Charizard card.

#3 Hilda
Set: White Flare
Average Sale Price: $1.76

Most months, this entire report is exclusively populated by cards like Hilda: generically powerful Trainer cards that haven’t been reprinted in many sets and are able to stay over $1. Players need playsets, so they sell quickly.

#4 Pikachu
Set: Celebrations
Average Sale Price: $3.97

As Pokémon Day 2026 approaches (and with it, the 30th anniversary of the Pokémon franchise), we’re starting to see more movement on earlier anniversary sets like Celebrations and Generations.

#5 Oricorio ex - 024
Set: Mega Evolution Promo
Average Sale Price: $11.92

Speculators seem happy to double-down any card illustrated by Shinji Kanda, even product-exclusive promo cards like this one that have dropped in price every week since their release. Between January 19 and 27, the average number of copies per buyer for this card rose as high as 7.0 per day, and never dropped below 2.0.
