Price Trends: Pokémon Cards Dropping in Price - 08/18/2026
By Peter Day •
We want you to have the best information available when you price cards on the TCGplayer Marketplace. So to help you get the most from your inventory, we’ve put together a downloadable CSV report of Pokémon cards that have dramatically decreased in Market Price in the past 30 days. We hope this report will complement our report on Pokémon price increases to give you a more well-rounded view of the market.
(Note: This report only considers Near Mint copies of cards with at least ten sales between July 18 and August 16, 2026.)
Here are ten highlights from that report. First, we have the five cards that lost the most value in the past 30 days after starting with a Market Price of $50 or less.
Top 5 Price Decreases—PKMN Cards $50 or Less
#5 Ethan's Adventure - 236/182
- Set: Destined Rivals
- Decrease: -$9.26
- Current Market Price: $35.80
July has seen a massive wave of reprints on Destined Rivals Elite Trainer Boxes, which have tanked the prices on cards throughout the set. Even Special Illustration Rare Team Rocket’s Mewtwo ex, the top chase card of the set, has lost $40 in value over the past month.
So it makes sense that SIR Ethan’s Adventure has reached an all-time low. Ethan doesn’t have as many die-hard fans as Giovanni or Mewtwo, so his cards don’t have as much demand to absorb the sudden surge in supply.
- Set: Silver Tempest Trainer Gallery
- Decrease: -$9.43
- Current Market Price: $32.74
Rayquaza hit an all-time high in mid-July, about a month after a serious buyout on June 12 (10.6 average copies per buyer). Since then, sales have fallen significantly for this card, which isn’t even the most desirable Rayquaza VMAX in the Silver Tempest Trainer Gallery. The market has corrected back down a bit.
#3 Munkidori
- Set: Shrouded Fable
- Decrease: -$10.12
- Current Market Price: $32.34
Shrouded Fable ETBs have been on a downward trend since June, but they took a sharp turn toward the ground in mid-August after a series of restocks on SFA Booster Bundles. That’s put downward pressure on all the cards in the set, and playable Illustration Rares like Munkidori and Dusclops haven’t survived that pressure as well as collector-focused cards like Houdoom.
- Set: Shrouded Fable
- Decrease: -$11.99
- Current Market Price: $34.11
Speaking of Dusclops, this IR is dropping too. It’ll only be about eight months until Dusclops and Munkidori rotate out of Standard, so there aren’t many players left who’re still looking to max-rarity their Dragapult decks.
- Set: Pitch Black
- Decrease: -$12.40
- Current Market Price: $18.89
Every card in Pitch Black has plummeted since the set released a month ago, but Ultra Rare Misty’s Vitality has taken the worst hit. While Misty’s enduring popularity briefly caused this card to rank as one of the top chase cards in Pitch Black, the relatively generous pull rate of URs in the set have doomed Misty’s Vitality to fall behind even the least desirable SIRs in Pitch Black, like Gwynn and Gladion’s Final Battle.
Next, these are the five cards that lost the most value in the past 30 days after starting with a Market Price over $50.
Top 5 Price Decreases—PKMN Cards Over $50
#5 Mega Dragonite ex - 290/217
- Set: Ascended Heroes
- Decrease: -$93.03
- Current Market Price: $695.71
The same trend of restocks and general market malaise that has weighed down Destined Rivals and Shrouded Fable has also affected Ascended Heroes.
#4 Mega Charizard X ex - 125/094
- Set: Phantasmal Flames
- Decrease: -$136.88
- Current Market Price: $692.50
Phantasmal Flames has seen drops too, and its chase card is down to its lowest Market Price since March.
- Set: Ascended Heroes
- Decrease: -$148.66
- Current Market Price: $1,076.28
“Treekachu” became the breakout star of Ascended Heroes when it rose from $600 to nearly $1200 in the span of a month. Now it’s spent two months retracing from its peak of $1,400.
#3 Umbreon VMAX (Alternate Art Secret)
- Set: Evolving Skies
- Decrease: -$151.81
- Current Market Price: $2,244.47
Even Moonbreon, the mascot of Pokémon card collecting in the 2020s, has lost some value since peaking at $2,416 earlier this month.
- Set: Ascended Heroes
- Decrease: -$225.08
- Current Market Price: $1,076.64
The third big hero of Ascended Heroes, Mega Gengar ex has been forced to drop in price too.
