Price Trends: Pokémon Cards Climbing in Price - 04/28/2026

We want you to have the best information available when you price cards on the TCGplayer Marketplace. So to help you get the most from your inventory, we’ve put together a downloadable CSV report of Pokémon cards that have dramatically increased in Market Price in the past 30 days.

(Note: This report only considers Near Mint copies of cards with at least ten sales between March 28 and April 26, 2026.)

Here are ten highlights from that report. First, we have the five cards that gained the most value in the past 30 days after starting with a Market Price of $60 or less.

Top 5 Price Increases—PKMN Cards $60 or Less

#5 Pikachu - 131/091

  • Set: Paldean Fates
  • Increase: +$27.16
  • Current Market Price: $81.55

With the monumental success of Ascended Heroes (whose chase cards dominate the top bracket of this report), fans have started theorizing that special Pokémon sets are where the money is. In particular, the special sets that were released at the start of each of the last four years have all seen tremendous growth. Crown Zenith, Paldean Fates, Prismatic Evolutions, and Ascended Heroes were all based on Japanese sets that were designed to close out their respective years on a high note, so it’s not too surprising that their success has translated overseas.

Now that Paldean Fates has officially rotated out of Standard, many of its cards are spiking again because investors feel confident it’ll never be reprinted. Shiny Rare Pikachu started February at $34, but it’s more than doubled since then, with most of that growth coming in April.

#4 Snorlax

  • Set: Paldean Fates
  • Increase: +$37.14
  • Current Market Price: $69.31

Another Shiny Pokémon from Paldean Fates, Snorlax has more than doubled since the start of March. Like Pikachu above, that growth doesn’t seem to have come from an increase in sales. Buyers just appear to be more willing to buy into the spike of a card that’s newly out of print.

#3 Darkrai VSTAR

  • Set: Crown Zenith: Galarian Gallery
  • Increase: +$38.34
  • Current Market Price: $94.24

This could easily be another unmotivated spike on a card from a historically popular special set. That, or speculators are betting that Darkrai’s stock will rise once the rumored Mega Darkrai-themed sets Abyss Eye (JP) and Pitch Black (EN) release later in 2026.

#2 Mimikyu -160/091

  • Set: Paldean Fates
  • Increase: +$42.24
  • Current Market Price: $64.69

Another Shiny Pokémon from Paldean Fates, another market price that’s doubled. Mimikyu isn’t from Gen like Snorlax and Pikachu, but it is the Pokémon on all the Paldean Fates Elite Trainer Boxes, so its recent popularity makes sense.

#1 Dachsbun ex - 169/142

  • Set: Stellar Crown
  • Increase: +$42.49
  • Current Market Price: $81.97

Breaking our streak of special-set cards, Dachsbun ex has doubled in price in April to become the third-most valuable card in Stellar Crown. Monthly sales actually fell in April compared to March, but a portion of fans were willing to buy into the spike, betting that this dog made of pastries would age better than Stellar Crown’s ostensible headliner, a turtle made of crystals.

Next, these are the five cards that gained the most value in the past 30 days after starting with a Market Price over $60.

Top 5 Price Increases—PKMN Cards Over $60

#5 Umbreon VMAX (Alternate Art Secret)

  • Set: Evolving Skies
  • Increase: +$158.91
  • Current Market Price: $2,028.59

Moonbreon is still well below its all-time high of nearly $2,300 that it reached in October 2025, but in the last couple months, it’s been reclaiming some of the value it once had.

#4 Mega Charizard Y ex - 294/217

  • Set: Ascended Heroes
  • Increase: +$177.85
  • Current Market Price: $613.07

The chase cards of Ascended Heroes have been ascending across the board, and that includes this Mega Hyper Rare Charizard.

Outside of a noticeable buyout on April 6 when one speculator picked up eight copies of this card at once, the demand for this card has appeared to be organic and consistent. Ascended Heroes has two cards at this super-exclusive rarity, which has made both of them harder to pull. As a result, fans have been willing to pay a premium instead of gambling on packs—which are selling for $12 each at time of writing.

#3 Mega Gengar ex - 284/217

  • Set: Ascended Heroes
  • Increase: +$193.24
  • Current Market Price: $1,291.94

The ultimate chase card of Ascended Heroes has climbed in price basically every week since the set became widely available in February. That mostly comes down to collectors acknowledging Gengar as a top-tier Pokémon on the same level as Pikachu and Charizard. Gengar cards across the market have been spiking for months, and now that The Pokémon Company has finally printed a new full-art Gengar card to chase, fans have enthusiastically answered the call.

#4 Team Rocket's Mewtwo ex - 281/217

  • Set: Ascended Heroes
  • Increase: +$196.90
  • Current Market Price: $475.62

After bottoming out in late March, this Special Illustration Rare has rebounded higher than ever. It’s hard to know why this card grew so much more than other Ascended Heroes SIRs like Lillie’s Clefairy ex and Mega Feraligar ex did in the same time period, but if we had to guess, speculators realized they’d been underestimating Mewtwo’s popularity.

#5 Pikachu ex - 276/217

  • Set: Ascended Heroes
  • Increase: +$590.43
  • Current Market Price: $1,176.51

Everyone knew Mega Gengar ex would overtake Mega Dragonite ex as the most valuable card in Ascended Heroes. But the real breakout card of the set has been this SIR Pikachu ex, which started March at $480 and has rocketted up every day since then. Why this Pikachu, and not the other SIR Pikachu that’s also in Ascended Heroes? Nobody’s sure, but it might come down to the art. Fans have been enamored with this understated take on encountering a wild Pikachu in the woods, illustrated by Light Novel artist booota in their debut English Pokémon card.
