TCGplayer Expands Suite of Card Sorting Devices with Launch of Roca Sifter

The newest addition to TCGplayer’s hardware suite offers industry-first foil detection features and access to professional grade automation, streamlining trading card management for TCG sellers of all sizes.

SAN JOSE, CA – March 2, 2026 – Today, TCGplayer, a leading online marketplace for trading card games, announced the launch of Roca Sifter, a compact and affordable automation device designed to help sellers simplify card sorting and pricing workflows. The release marks the latest expansion of TCGplayer’s automation technology portfolio aimed to support sellers at every stage.

The Roca Sifter builds on its enterprise-level predecessor, the Roca Sorter, a high-volume sorting system developed for managing large inventory volumes. While the Roca Sorter focuses on streamlining bulk, back-of-the-house intake, the Roca Sifter offers a footprint similar to a desktop printer to enhance transparency and efficiency for growing operations. Designed to hold up to 400 cards at a time, it can process up to 1,800 cards per hour.

The sorting devices represent TCGplayer’s broader investment in purpose-built hardware solutions designed for trading card games – addressing workflows that have traditionally relied on manual labor or disconnected systems.

“The Roca Sifter addresses the most time-consuming parts of sorting and pricing trading card games, at a scale, price point, and with features that are a first for the industry,” said Robert Bigler, CEO of TCGplayer. “The introduction of Roca Sifter reinforces TCGplayer’s commitment to supporting local hobby shops, individual sellers, and retailers who are the heart of this industry with best-in-class solutions that help them connect their inventory with the player and collector community.”

Built on proprietary technology developed in partnership with Xerox, the Sifter’s advanced foil detection feature is an industry-first in TCG automation hardware. Roca Sifter technology identifies key trading details, prices cards accurately, sorts them based on customizable criteria, and is compatible with most premium protecting card sleeves.

Key features of the Roca Sifter include:

  • TCG-specific card handling designed to reduce the risk of damage
  • Industry-first advanced foil detection to distinguish foil from non-foil cards
  • Continuous running mode for uninterrupted operation until the hopper is empty or bins are full
  • Compatibility with most popular premium sleeves – no other device on the market has sleeve compatibility
  • Full integration with the TCGplayer Seller Portal, enabling sellers to scan, identify, price, and list cards within a unified workflow

At launch, Roca Sifter will support Magic: The Gathering, Pokémon Trading Card Game, Disney Lorcana, and One Piece Card Game, with additional games planned through future updates.

The Roca Sifter will be available for a MSRP of $799, with a $25/month subscription (billed $300 annually) which will include ongoing software updates and replacement of consumable parts. Orders open March 2, 2026 at the GAMA Expo and online at seller.tcgplayer.com/roca-sifter with shipping beginning September 2026. Availability is limited at launch, and an active TCGplayer seller account is required to operate the device.

TCGplayer will be showcasing Roca Sifter at GAMA Expo in Louisville, KY, including live demonstrations on the show floor and by invitation in the TCGplayer Seller Lounge. Additional demonstrations are planned to continue at various hobby shops and major industry events throughout the year.
