Top Selling Pokémon Sets Right Now – 05/27/2025
By Peter Day •
Deciding how much capital to invest in each new TCG set is one of the hardest decisions that comes with running a game store. We want to make that decision easier, so we’ve compiled a report of the bestselling Pokémon sets this month. This report will show you which Pokémon sets are still in high demand months or years after their release, so you can better anticipate what the demand will be for upcoming sets.
The report lists the top 100 Pokémon TCG sets, ranked by the total GMV of all sales (sealed and singles) on the TCGplayer Marketplace between April 22 and May 21, 2025. As a quick preview, here are the ten sets at the very top of the list:
Top 10 Bestselling Pokémon Sets
Except where noted otherwise, you can assume that the bestselling sealed product for each of these sets was its Booster Box, and its bestselling cards were more or less identical to its most expensive cards.
#10 Lost Origin
Released: September 9, 2022.
This month Lost Origin managed to come out ahead of the other 2022 Pokémon sets like Silver Tempest and Astral Radiance. It was helped significantly by the fact that the Sword & Shield Ultra-Premium Collection: Charizard technically belongs to the set, despite containing packs from across the Sword & Shield Series.
#9 Paldea Evolved
Released: June 9, 2023.
When Paldea Evolved first released it was largely considered a set of forgettable cards, with the sole exception being the Special Illustration Rare Iono that had already caused Clay Burst to sell out in Japan. With a few years of hindsight fans have come around on many of Paldea Evolved’s Illustration Rares, especially Magikarp, the most expensive IR of any set so far.
#8 Paldean Fates
Released: January 26, 2024.
It’s no surprise that Paldean Fates is still popular given its ludicrously huge list of cards to collect and the community’s affection for its top Special Illustration Rares, especially “Bubble Mew.”
What’s slightly more surprising is that 6-pack Booster Bundles were the top-selling Paldean Fates item by GMV, though upon reflection it makes sense. Because Paldean Fates is a Special Set, the Booster Bundle is the only product that contains just packs, which makes it the most sensible choice for fans who’ve already collected the goodies from the other Paldean Fates sealed products.
#7 Miscellaneous Cards & Products
Released: December 1998 - Present.
The “Miscellaneous Cards & Products” set contains a wide range of items from across the history of the Pokémon TCG that don’t belong anywhere else, so it tends to rank on breadth of sales alone. This month the top-selling items by GMV included the Blooming Waters Premium Collection, the Lillie Premium Tournament Collection Box, and the always popular Ancient Mew card handed out to theatergoers who came to Pokémon: The Movie 2000.
#6 Evolving Skies
Released: August 27, 2021.
With two blockbuster themes in one release (Eeveelutions and Dragon-types), plus the holy grail of modern Pokémon cards (“Moonbreon”), Evolving Skies remains the bestselling set of the Sword and Shield Series and one of the biggest Pokémon sets of the 2020s.
#5 Surging Sparks
Released: November 8, 2024.
Released soon after Pokémon TCG Pocket took over phones worldwide, Surging Sparks coincided with a huge influx of interest in the Pokémon TCG that helped push its chase cards and sealed products to heights we hadn’t seen in a Scarlet & Violet set before.
#4 Scarlet & Violet—151
Released: September 22, 2023.
151 will likely go down as the best Pokémon set of the decade. Putting every single Gen I Pokémon (and only Gen I Pokémon) in the same set is a gimmick so obvious it’s kind of brilliant, and The Pokémon Company will be struggling to top themselves for a long, long time.
As with Paldean Fates, the best-selling 151 product by GMV last month was the Booster Bundle, which lets fans get all the packs with none of the fuss.
#3 Journey Together
Released: March 28, 2025.
Journey Together was the most recent Pokémon set during the time period of this report, but it still couldn’t compete in GMV with the two sets on either side of it chronologically. That’s largely down to the relative weakness of the set itself, with its more small size leading to generous pull rates and its “Trainer’s Pokémon” theme failing to ignite the same zeal as either “Eeveelutions” (Prismatic Evolutions, the #1 set) or “Team Rocket” (Destined Rivals, the #2 set).
The Journey Together Enhanced Booster Box did outsell the regular Booster Box this month, suggesting that Pokémon fans have caught on to the better value available in a box that costs less and comes with an extra $10 card.
#2 Destined Rivals
Released: May 30, 2025.
Presales for Destined Rivals were strong enough to push the set to the #2 slot, with Mayhem convincing many fans to brave the presale prices rather than miss out on store credit. The set is larger and looks more exciting for players and collectors than Journey Together was, and may cause the recent Pokémon TCG boom to find its second wind.
#1 Prismatic Evolutions
Released: January 17, 2025.
Prismatic Evolutions might have taken the top spot this month even if the Prismatic Evolutions Super-Premium Collection hadn’t released on the same day as Mayhem, just on the strength of sales of the Elite Trainer Box and Booster Bundle. With the SPC, it clinched 1st place easily. Prismatic Evolutions has surpassed all expectations for a Pokémon set not named “151,” driving record-high sales, record-high singles prices, and ever-mounting frustration among fans at the lack of available product.
