Top Selling Magic: The Gathering Sets Right Now – 08/27/2025

Deciding how much capital to invest in each new TCG set is one of the hardest decisions that comes with running a game store. We want to make that decision easier, so we’ve compiled a report of the bestselling Magic: The Gathering sets this month. This report will show you which Magic sets are still in high demand months or years after their release, so you can better anticipate what the demand will be for upcoming sets.

The report lists the top 100 Magic: The Gathering sets, ranked by the total GMV of all sales (sealed and singles) on the TCGplayer Marketplace between July 26 and August 24, 2025. As a quick preview, here are the ten sets at the very top of the list:

Top 10 Bestselling Magic: The Gathering Sets

#10 Avatar: The Last Airbender
Released: November 21, 2025.

Presales have landed Avatar: The Last Airbender in August’s list of bestsellers a full three months ahead of the set’s release. ATLA strikes a powerfully nostalgic chord for Millennials, among whom the series is more or less universally beloved. So fans and speculators—likely more of the latter—are getting in early in case this turns into the next FINAL FANTASY-style runaway Universes Beyond hit.

#9 Edge of Eternities: Stellar Sights
Released: August 1, 2025.

This Edge of Eternities subset consists entirely of borderless reprints of nonbasic lands that have stood the test of time. The bestselling lands from the subset include various printings of Ancient Tomb, Gemstone Caverns, Strip Mine, and Mana Confluence, all of which are staples in high-power Commander decks.

#8 Universes Beyond: The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth
Released: June 23, 2023.

2023’s biggest set continues to rank highly, though it’s no longer in the Top 5. The One Ring is still legal (and busted) in Commander, and Orcish Bowmasters remains a Modern staple, so the LOTR set is retaining its status as one of Magic’s best-selling sets even after its two-year anniversary.

#7 Modern Horizons 3
Released: June 14, 2024.

Modern Horizons 3 completely redefined the format when it released last year. Several rounds of bans later, it’s still the only source of many of the most-played cards in Modern like Ocelot Pride and Consign to Memory, as well as the most affordable copies of the enemy fetch lands, and Commander staples like Sink into Stupor and Warren Soultrader.

Until these cards get reprinted, expect MH3 to continue ranking among the top 10 bestselling Magic sets.

#6 Commander Masters
Released: August 4, 2023.

Commander Masters has ranked well once again thanks to the enduring popularity of the Commander format. The set contains reprints of over 400 format staples, and most of those reprints are now the cheapest printings of their respective cards. If Wizards of the Coast ever reprints those cards again, we can expect the current interest in Commander Masters to transfer to the new set.

#5 Commander: FINAL FANTASY
Released: June 13, 2025.

FINAL FANTASY was the bestselling Magic: The Gathering set of all time before it even released. Sets don’t achieve that level of success without serious buy-in from collectors and speculators, and those buyers are still purchasing products from FINAL FANTASY’s Commander subset where they can.

Most of those sales are still for Deck Displays and Collector’s Edition Deck Displays, which are down to “just” $190 and $660 respectively, though Borderless Surge Foil versions of popular characters like Cloud, Ex-SOLDIER, Y’shtola, Night’s Blessed, Yuna, Grand Summoner, Tifa, Martial Artist, and Tidus, Yuna’s Guardian (with the roman numeral backgrounds) are all putting up impressive numbers.

#4 Marvel’s Spider-Man
Released: September 26, 2025.

While not as far out as Avatar, the Last Airbender, Marvel’s Spider-Man is also in presales and has managed to break into the Top 5 anyway. Spider-Man isn’t expected to inspire the same level of enthusiasm among Magic’s core audience as FINAL FANTASY and Avatar: The Last Airbender, but that hasn’t stopped collectors and speculators from buying Collector Displays with amazing speed.

#3 Secret Lair Drop Series
Released: December 2, 2019 - Present.

Like Special Guests, the list of Secret Lair cards grows longer with each passing year, so we can expect at least some of them to sell well every month.

Right now, the top-selling Secret Lair products are the Secret Lair x FINAL FANTASY and Secret Lair x Sonic the Hedgehog Superdrop boxes, with the various versions of Chaos Emerald topping the bestselling singles.

#2 FINAL FANTASY
Released: June 13, 2025.

As we covered above, FINAL FANTASY sales have outstripped anything we’ve ever seen from a Magic: The Gathering set. Play and Collector Booster Displays still lead the way in GMV, Commander and Standard powerhouses Starting Town and Vivi Ornitier top the bestselling singles.

#1 Edge of Eternities
Released: August 1, 2025.

Barely edging out FINAL FANTASY in terms of GMV (despite many more items sold) is this month’s MTG release, Edge of Eternities. As usual, Play and Collector Booster Displays are responsible for the most GMV. Top-selling singles include Tezzeret, Cruel Captain, Icetill Explorer, and Quantum Riddler, all of which are instant Commander staples.
