Price Trends: Yu-Gi-Oh! Cards Climbing in Price - 03/04/2025

We want you to have the best information available when you price cards on the TCGplayer Marketplace. So to help you get the most from your inventory, we’ve put together a downloadable CSV report of Yu-Gi-Oh! cards that have dramatically increased in Market Price in the past 30 days.

(Note: This report only considers Near Mint copies of cards with at least five sales between February 1 and March 2, 2025.)

Here are ten highlights from that report. First, we have the five cards that gained the most value in the past 30 days after starting with a Market Price of $10 or less.

Top 5 Price Increases—YGO Cards $10 or Less

#5 Chaos Hunter (Quarter Century Secret Rare)

  • Set: 25th Anniversary Rarity Collection II
  • Increase: +$8.67
  • Current Market Price: $18.53

Ding-Kha Bui managed to win YCS Birmingham on February 9th with Fire Kings, besting what were considered to be the best decks in the format, Maliss and Ryzeal. Maliss in particular fell victim to Bui’s Side Deck plan: three copies of Chaos Hunter, a handtrap that summons itself while shutting down all Banish effects (and by extension, Maliss’s entire gameplan). That success prompted more players to pick up Chaos Hunter for themselves.

Chaos Hunter has been printed over a dozen times over the years, and most versions are under $1. But some speculators (or max-rarity enthusiasts) bought up all the copies they could of the Quarter Century Secret Rare version on the 9th, getting in just ahead of the general spending spree for this card and sending this high-rarity version soaring. Konami has indirectly promised not to reprint any cards at the QCSR rarity that already have a QCSR version, so fans largely feel secure investing in them to bling out their decks.

#4 Heart of the Blue-Eyes

  • Set: Rage of the Abyss
  • Increase: +$8.82
  • Current Market Price: $15.81

Despite the big white dragon in this card’s art and the “blue-eyes” in its name, Heart of the isn’t built to work in a Blue-Eyes White Dragon deck, and its recent spike doesn’t seem to have anything to do with the Blue-Eyes White Destiny Structure Deck that released in February. Instead, this card was made to complement the other Exodia support cards from The Infinite Forbidden.

Exodia hasn’t seen a tremendous amount of competitive success, but it’s still a wildly popular archetype thanks to its role in the original Yu-Gi-Oh anime. And because Heart of the Blue-Eyes has only been printed in one set so far, the demand for it has cleared out the low-cost listings from TCGplayer and forced it to spike to over $15.

#3 Black Rose Moonlight Dragon (Quarter Century Secret Rare)

  • Set: Quarter Century Bonanza
  • Increase: +$10.19
  • Current Market Price: $16.49

The Blue-Eyes White Destiny Structure Deck that released in February introduced more ways for players to summon Blue-Eyes Spirit Dragon, which in turn can special summon Light Dragon Synchro Monsters from the extra deck as a Quick Effect. Black Rose Moonlight Dragon meets those conditions, which means it’s just gotten better by association.

Most versions of this card can be had for under $1, but duelists with dollars to burn have been burning through the low-cost listings of the QCSR version and sent it spiking.

#2 Cosmic Blazar Dragon

  • Set: Duelist Saga
  • Increase: +$10.32
  • Current Market Price: $16.26

Much like Black Rose Moonlight Dragon, Cosmic Blazar Dragon is a scary Synchro Monster that just got easier to summon with the release of the Blue-Eyes White Destiny Structure Deck.

This is the oldest version of the card and, currently, the most expensive. It’s got far fewer sales to its name than either the Common-rarity version from Legendary Duelists: Magical Hero or the Quarter Century Secret Rare version from 25th Anniversary Tin: Dueling Mirrors. Keep an eye on the QCSR version—it could follow suit.

#1 Blue-Eyes Spirit Dragon

  • Set: Shining Victories
  • Printing: Unlimited
  • Increase: +$12.02
  • Current Market Price: $21.65

Blue-Eyes Spirit Dragon has been reprinted numerous times, including most recently in the Blue-Eyes White Destiny Structure Deck that released in February, so players have many more affordable options than this, the card’s original printing. But a few fans still prefer the classics, so the few Near Mint copies of this 2016 Secret Rare have been going fast as players build around Maiden of White and the other new cards in the Structure Deck.

Next, these are the five cards that gained the most value in the past 30 days after starting with a Market Price over $10.

Top 5 Price Increases—YGO Cards Over $10

#5 Lyna the Light Charmer, Lustrous (Starlight Rare)

  • Set: Lightning Overdrive
  • Increase: +$21.08
  • Current Market Price: $169.14

The normal printing of Lyna the Light Charmer, Lustrous costs less than $1, and this Starlight Rare version has been trending downward for over a year as Lyna has become less and less relevant competitively. Its fortunes changed in early February when Ding-Kha Bui used it in their 1st-place deck at YCS Birmingham. A tiny buyout followed on February 7, which helped this card regain a little of the value it’s lost since November.

#4 Super Starslayer TY-PHON - Sky Crisis (Quarter Century Secret Rare)

  • Set: Age of Overlord
  • Increase: +$22.47
  • Current Market Price: $200.83

Super Starslayer TY-PHON - Sky Crisis has grown in popularity since December as an easy way to counter 3000 ATK cards like Ryzeal Detonator and Nibiru, the Primal Being. If the Blue-Eyes White Destiny Structure Deck manages to push Blue-Eyes decks into the Major Leagues, this could be one of the cards that forces them back to the Minors.

#3 Blue-Eyes White Dragon (Secret Rare)

  • Set: 25th Anniversary Ultimate Kaiba Set
  • Increase: +$29.97
  • Current Market Price: $301.04

Available exclusively in the special set designed to look like Set Kaiba’s briefcase, this is the second-most expensive version of Blue-Eyes White Dragon ever printed, just behind the Secret Pharaoh’s Rare version from Magnificent Mavens. Unsurprisingly, fancy version of BEWD were more in demand than usual in February with the release of the Blue-Eyes White Destiny Structure Deck.

#2 Black Brutdrago

  • Set: Stardust Overdrive
  • Increase: +$32.03
  • Current Market Price: $43.44

This is a weird one.

Black Brutdrago supports “Gemini” monsters, which haven’t mattered competitively in years…but they still see play in the time-locked Edison format, which takes players back to the cardpool that was available during the 2010 Shonen Jump Championship in Edison, NY. And on February 3, Marcus “Lol” managed to take Top 8 at the Ultimate Time Wizard event at YCS Orlando with a new approach to this decade-old format.

Marcus innovated on the Gigavise Gemini Synchro deck, which uses Black Brutdrago, and because this obscure card has only been printed once (in 2009), the sudden surge in demand from Edison players that weekend immediately caused the card to spike.

#1 Crimson Dragon (Quarter Century Secret Rare)

  • Set: Duelist Nexus
  • Increase: +$44.24
  • Current Market Price: $188.68

Since its initial release in 2023 and through to the present, Crimson Dragon has been widely playable, even when there hasn’t been a top-tier competitive deck where it could shine. The normal version of Crimson Dragon dropped in price after it got reprinted in 25th Anniversary Tin: Dueling Mirrors last September, but as the supply of that version has dried up, Crimson Dragon has started riding an updraft again—both the normal version and this QCSR version.

Besides being generally strong, Crimson Dragon also slots perfectly into the Blue-Eyes White Destiny Structure Deck as a way to turn Blue-Eyes Spirit Dragon into other Dragon Synchro Monsters.
