Price Trends: Pokémon Cards Climbing in Price - 10/07/2025

We want you to have the best information available when you price cards on the TCGplayer Marketplace. So to help you get the most from your inventory, we’ve put together a downloadable CSV report of Pokémon cards that have dramatically increased in Market Price in the past 30 days.

(Note: This report only considers Near Mint copies of cards with at least five sales between September 6 and October 5, 2025.)

Here are ten highlights from that report. First, we have the five cards that gained the most value in the past 30 days after starting with a Market Price of $30 or less.

Top 5 Price Increases—PKMN Cards $30 or Less

#5 Marshadow

  • Set: Cosmic Eclipse
  • Printing: Normal
  • Increase: +$20.22
  • Current Market Price: $20.72

In the current Pokémon market, seemingly random cards can spike tremendously if a group of online speculators agrees it’s a clever dark-horse bet for whatever reason. That appears to be what’s happened to this regular-Rare Marshadow from 2019’s Cosmic Eclipse.

Before Mega Evolution released on September 26, eagle-eyed fans noticed that the Illustration Rare Marshadow in the set showed a different angle of the same scene depicted in the Marshadow from Cosmic Eclipse (both cards are credited to illustrator “0313”). Perhaps hoping that fact would lead fans to want to own both, someone bought out Cosmic Eclipse Marshadow on September 3 (16.7 copies per buyer), and a more coordinated buyout by multiple people followed on September 27 (2.9 copies per buyer). The second of those buyouts briefly sent Cosmic Eclipse Marshadow to nearly $30, and while it’s corrected back down quickly, at time of writing it’s still selling for nearly $20—about 3,900% more than the $0.50 it was going for at the start of September.

Meanwhile, Illustration Rare Marshadow from Mega Evolution spiked quickly when it first released, reaching over $90. It has since corrected down to just under $50. At least for now, the Cosmic Eclipse Rare is in shorter supply than the Mega Evolution Illustration Rare.

#4 Marshadow

  • Set: Cosmic Eclipse
  • Printing: Reverse Holofoil
  • Increase: +$22.60
  • Current Market Price: $24.00

The Reverse Holo printing of Marshadow from Cosmic Eclipse spiked for the same reason as the normal printing, but due to increased scarcity it has not corrected down. At time of writing, the last sale was for $59.00, and there are no Near Mint listings for under $49.95.

#3 Morpeko - 206/182

  • Set: Paradox Rift
  • Increase: +$27.63
  • Current Market Price: $47.42

Someone bought out this Illustration Rare on September 25, spiking the average copies per buyer from 1.5 to 12.3, and causing its Market Price to spike as well. It’s not clear why this card was targeted (or why now), but it may have been related to the Marnie’s Morpeko promo card that was released with the Marnie Rival Battle Deck back on May 16, which is also numbered “206” and briefly reached just under $50 in early September.

#2 Solosis - 118/086

  • Set: Black Bolt
  • Increase: +$47.04
  • Current Market Price: $58.78

It appears as though a group of speculators suddenly and collectively realized last week that USGMEN, the artist behind the wildly popular “Bubble Mew” card, has also illustrated three other cards. What we know for sure is that sales of USGMEN’s Solosis, Clobbopus, and Tandemaus all spiked massively between September 29 and October 2. Solosis’s and Clobbopus’s Market Prices also spiked as a result, but Tandemaus saw hardly any price change given that it’s a Common with over 1000 listings.

#1 Charizard GX - SM195

  • Set: SM Promos
  • Increase: +$61.16
  • Current Market Price: $80.45

This promo card was distributed in the Detective Pikachu Charizard-GX Case File and Special Case File products, and some number of determined speculators have been buying it out since May. After a massive buyout on August 18 (29.0 copies per buyer) and a smaller buyout on September 3 (11.0 copies per buyer), an even smaller buyout on September 15 (8.0 copies per buyer) finally wiped out the remaining listings under $30. At time of writing, there are listings for as low as $73.00, so it doesn’t look like Charizard GX SM195 will be able to hold its new price in the short term.

Next, these are the five cards that gained the most value in the past 30 days after starting with a Market Price over $30.

Top 5 Price Increases—PKMN Cards Over $30

#5 Roaring Moon ex

  • Set: Prismatic Evolutions
  • Increase: +$151.52
  • Current Market Price: $299.62

After months of downward movement thanks to waves of reprints, Prismatic Evolutions (both Elite Trainer Boxes and all of the set’s Special Illustration Rares) spiked back up this month. ETBs have returned to just below their all-time high. Meanwhile, singles are posting more modest increases, though the share of the set’s value is shifting away from some cards and toward others.

One of the biggest winners from these shifts is Shinji Kanda’s Roaring Moon ex, which is now the 3rd most valuable card from the set, ahead of all the SIR Eeveelutions except for Umbreon ex and Sylveon ex.

#4 Team Rocket's Mewtwo ex - 231/182

  • Set: Destined Rivals
  • Increase: +$181.90
  • Current Market Price: $548.59

We haven’t seen any suspicious changes in Team Rocket’s Mewtwo ex’s sales numbers in the past few months. The card is simply popular for self-evident reasons (Mewtwo + Team Rocket = Gen I Nostalgia up the wazoo), so the listings for under $500 have all dried up naturally.

In a normal year, the Pokémon Company would focus more resources on reprinting Destined Rivals given how successful the set has been, but their production was at capacity well before this set released.

#3 Umbreon ex - 161/131

  • Set: Prismatic Evolutions
  • Increase: +$300.54
  • Current Market Price: $1,141.97

Another big winner from the recent spike across all of Prismatic Evolutions, the set’s #1 card is back over $1k for the first time since July. That’s still far below its all-time high of $1,600+ when it first released, but we may have found this card’s floor.

#2 Umbreon V (Alternate Full Art)

  • Set: Evolving Skies
  • Increase: +$336.96
  • Current Market Price: $687.88

Last month we called out a small buyout on August 8 that pushed Umbreon V to an all-time-high Market Price of just under $500. More mini-buyouts (with average copies per buyer ranging from 3.3 to 8.0) have followed in the past few weeks, with the result that Umbreon V is at a new all-time high. At time of writing there are several listings in the $550 range, so Umbreon V might not stay that high for long.

#1 Umbreon VMAX (Alternate Art Secret)

  • Set: Evolving Skies
  • Increase: +$741.58
  • Current Market Price: $2,280.57

A sizable buyout on September 10 (average of 6.5 copies per buyer) helped push Moonbreon over the $2K threshold for the first time, and it’s been floating ever upward in the weeks since.
