Price Trends: Pokémon Cards Climbing in Price - 11/04/2025
By Peter Day •
We want you to have the best information available when you price cards on the TCGplayer Marketplace. So to help you get the most from your inventory, we’ve put together a downloadable CSV report of Pokémon cards that have dramatically increased in Market Price in the past 30 days.
(Note: This report only considers Near Mint copies of cards with at least five sales between October 1 and October 30, 2025.)
Here are ten highlights from that report. First, we have the five cards that gained the most value in the past 30 days after starting with a Market Price of $20 or less.
Top 5 Price Increases—PKMN Cards $20 or Less
#5 Greninja
- Set: Unbroken Bonds
- Printing: Normal
- Increase: +$11.89
- Current Market Price: $21.51
Greninja might have spiked this month because of a buyout. It’s hard to say for sure, because the buyout occurred four months ago.
This unassuming Holo Rare from 2019 has been rising gradually since February, but on June 19 it got an extra push when somebody bought 23 copies at once, followed by an 18-copy order on June 29. Those purchases didn’t impact Greninja’s trajectory much at the time, but in late September, listings under $8 suddenly dried up and Greninja’s been flying ever since.
It’s not clear why collectors or speculators would be pursuing this card, aside from the artwork being a subtle reference to the anime. But it’s not alone—the Holo Rare Snorlax from the same set is dangerously close to breaking $50.
#4 Ceruledge ex
- Set: Prize Pack Series Cards
- Increase: +$12.28
- Current Market Price: $19.27
The release of Mega Evolution on September 26 gave Ceruledge ex a synergistic draw engine and an early attacker in the form of Lunatone and Solrock (respectively). Every version of Ceruledge ex spiked during October in response, including this Prize Pack version, which had plenty of room to grow thanks to the relative scarcity of organized play packs compared to regular packs.
- Set: White Flare
- Increase: +$12.84
- Current Market Price: $28.40
A buyout on October 20 pushed the average number of copies of this Ducklett per buyer to 20.0, up from 1.0 the previous day. That immediately sent the card’s price spiking to over $30, but it’s been slowly sinking ever since. At the current rate, it’ll be back under $20 within three weeks.
- Set: Scarlet & Violet Base Set
- Increase: +$13.63
- Current Market Price: $24.05
Greavard is a similar story. On October 3, a buyout helped spike Greavard to over $30. It has since trended downward in stuttering steps, despite a few smaller buyouts which have slowed its descent.
#1 Marshadow
- Set: Cosmic Eclipse
- Printing: Reverse Holofoil
- Increase: +$20.15
- Current Market Price: $36.48
As we covered last month, this Marshadow spiked massively soon after the release of Mega Evolution thanks to that set containing a Marshadow with the same scene by the same artist from a different angle. Mega Evolution’s Marshadow plummeted immediately after its initial spike, but this one didn’t. Cosmic Eclipse came out back in 2019, so we won’t be getting an infusion of supply for this card again.
Next, these are the five cards that gained the most value in the past 30 days after starting with a Market Price over $20.
Top 5 Price Increases—PKMN Cards Over $20
- Set: Phantom Forces
- Increase: +$62.32
- Current Market Price: $727.44
This Gengar has creeped up every month all year. October was no exception, as this 2014 card picked up another 9% in value over spooky season.
#4 Sylveon VMAX (Alternate Art Secret)
- Set: Evolving Skies
- Increase: +$71.72
- Current Market Price: $401.34
A long series of mini-buyouts culminating in unusually hot sales day on October 7 helped Sylveon break $400 for the first time since May. This Eeveelution is still below the all-time high of $433.80 it reached in February, but it’s closing in.
- Set: Black Bolt
- Increase: +$78.96
- Current Market Price: $482.61
Black White Rare Zekrom ex fell below $400 soon after it released in Black Bolt, but the sheer scarcity of this new rarity has helped it climb back to a new all-time high.
#2 Magikarp & Wailord GX (Alternate Full Art)
- Set: Team Up
- Increase: +$87.67
- Current Market Price: $775.57
All of this card’s recent movement appears to be entirely organic, with the average copies per buyer never exceeding 2.0 since 2021. There simply aren’t enough copies to go around, so every sale in 2025 has pushed it in the same direction. At time of writing, the last four NM English sales have been for four figures.
- Set: Prismatic Evolutions
- Increase: +$116.96
- Current Market Price: $1,210.61
“Sunbreon” dropped for months after it released in January as more Prismatic Evolutions packs made their way to fans. But it looks like we reached the card’s floor in mid-September around $830, and since then Umbreon ex has (unevenly) bounced back up to four digits.
