Price Trends: Pokémon Cards Climbing in Price - 07/15/2025
By Peter Day •
We want you to have the best information available when you price cards on the TCGplayer Marketplace. So to help you get the most from your inventory, we’ve put together a downloadable CSV report of Pokémon cards that have dramatically increased in Market Price in the past 30 days.
(Note: This report only considers Near Mint copies of cards with at least five sales between June 14 and July 13, 2025.)
Here are ten highlights from that report. First, we have the five cards that gained the most value in the past 30 days after starting with a Market Price of $30 or less.
Top 5 Price Increases—PKMN Cards $30 or Less
- Set: XY Promos
- Increase: +$12.48
- Current Market Price: $41.68
When a card is almost a decade old, it doesn’t take many orders to reset its Market Price. At time of writing, there are no Ash-Greninja EX Boxes listed on TCGplayer, which means finding a sealed copy of this card is increasingly difficult. The small number of sales since June have been more than enough to tip the scales.
- Set: Sword & Shield Base Set
- Increase: +$14.24
- Current Market Price: $30.49
The Pokémon Company is reprinting Air Balloon back into Standard in the upcoming set Black Bolt, which releases this weekend. This golden Secret Rare version of the card from Sword & Shield is still the highest-rarity printing of the card ever made, so it’s the prime choice for Pokémon players who want to show off their superior taste in cardboard.
- Set: Celebrations: Classic Collection
- Increase: +$14.59
- Current Market Price: $34.32
Speculators tried to buy out several Celebrations cards featuring old mechanics on June 27 and 28, including this M Rayquaza EX, Greninja Star, Umbreon Star, and Mimikyu (Delta Species). Most of them lost their value over the following weeks, but M Rayquaza-EX has managed to keep growing past its initial spike, possibly thanks to the imminent return of Mega Evolution Pokémon to the TCG in the Mega Evolution Series.
- Set: Scarlet & Violet Promo Cards
- Increase: +$15.25
- Current Market Price: $39.80
This is actually the second major spike for this woodblock print-inspired Kingdra card. Distributed as a promo card in the Shrouded Fable Kingdra ex Special Illustration Collection, Kingra ex (and its counterpart Greninja ex, from the Greninja ex Special Illustration Collection) more than doubled in price early in 2025 during the initial fever pitch around Pokémon TCG Pocket. It’s spiking again now in response to several weeks of high sales, as the collection it’s from slowly sells out on TCGplayer.
#1 Latios - 012/110 (Delta Species)
- Set: Holon Phantoms
- Increase: +$18.14
- Current Market Price: $44.99
Holon Phantoms is almost 20 years old, so it hasn’t taken many sales to push Latios (Delta Species) over the edge. At time of writing, there are only four Near Mint listings left on TCGplayer, and all of them are over Market Price.
Next, these are the five cards that gained the most value in the past 30 days after starting with a Market Price over $30.

#5 Ethan's Typhlosion (Prerelease Staff)
- Set: Destined Rivals
- Increase: +$70.59
- Current Market Price: $143.27
All four Destined Rivals Prerelease Staff promos exploded in price this month, to the point that they’re each currently clearing $100. This far exceeds the price of other modern Staff Prerelease cards, and even the prices of Staff Prerelease promos from earlier Series.
Sales of these cards have been high, but we aren’t seeing the high numbers of cards-per-buyer typically associated with a buyout. Our best guess is that this is an organic fad among collectors, which may or may not spread to older Staff Prerelease promos.
#4 Pikachu & Zekrom GX (Secret)
- Set: Team Up
- Increase: +$77.99
- Current Market Price: $201.76
TAG TEAM cards have been setting all-time highs this month across the board, as Sun & Moon cards continue to reward investors better than any of the chase cards from the more heavily printed Sword & Shield Series. This card gets a special bump because Zekrom is featured so prominently in the upcoming Gen V-inspired set Black Bolt.
#3 Gardevoir & Sylveon GX (205) (Alternate Full Art)
- Set: Unbroken Bonds
- Increase: +$84.56
- Current Market Price: $552.62
Like other TAG TEAM cards, Alternate-Art Gardevoir & Sylveon-GX (illustrated by Atsuko Nishida, the character designer behind Pikachu and Sylveon) grew steadily in price all month. It’s actually been growing since March 2024, but the incline this month has been particularly sharp.
#2 Magikarp & Wailord GX (Alternate Full Art)
- Set: Team Up
- Increase: +$93.16
- Current Market Price: $520.47
This card by prolific Pokémon TCG illustrator OOYAMA follows the same pattern as the two TAG TEAM cards above.
#1 Misty's Gyarados (Prerelease Staff)
- Set: Destined Rivals
- Increase: +$112.99
- Current Market Price: $177.56
Like the other Destined Rivals Prerelease Staff promos, Misty’s Gyarados has boomed in price over the last month. It’s only noteworthy in that it’s the most expensive of the bunch.
