Price Trends: Magic: The Gathering Cards Climbing in Price - 09/29/2026

We want you to have the best information available when you price cards on the TCGplayer Marketplace. So to help you get the most from your inventory, we’ve put together a downloadable CSV report of Magic: The Gathering cards that have dramatically increased in Market Price in the past 30 days.
(Note: This report only considers Near Mint copies of cards with at least ten sales between August 24 and September 23, 2026.)
Here are ten highlights from that report. First, we have the five cards that gained the most value in the past 30 days after starting with a Market Price of $50 or less.
Top 5 Price Increases—MTG Cards $50 or Less
#5 Optimus Prime - Darksteel Colossus
- Set: Secret Lair Drop Series
- Printing: Foil
- Increase: +$20.68
- Current Market Price: $39.95
This version of Optimus Prime is a reprint of the mighty Darksteel Colossus. It’s a fantastic card, but we’re pretty sure this, and two other Optimus Prime cards, have had increases this month because of the passing of Peter Cullen, the incredible voice actor for the character. This version jumped up by 107.32%. We all have our own ways of honoring incredible people, and apparently buying MTG cards is one of them.

- Increase: +$24.96
- Current Market Price: $41.34
Sphinx Ambassador is a fun card, but it’s on this list because of Reality Fracture causing it to go up by 152.38%. This card basically lets you steal cards from other people’s libraries. However, it’s here because of the brand-new The Ur-Sphinx finally making a sphinx kindred deck so tasty to build.

- Increase: +$26.10
- Current Market Price: $31.71
With a gargantuan 465.34% increase, it turns out it’s a very good time to be an Optimus Prime fan right now. This card can switch between robot and vehicle forms, and makes for a fun Commander too. It’s not even the only version of this card on this month’s list.
#2 Ichormoon Gauntlet (Oil Slick Raised Foil)
- Set: Phyrexia: All Will Be One
- Printing: Foil
- Increase: +$39.93
- Current Market Price: $63.06
With Jace changing the multiverse so much that he’s become a token a lot of cards can make, it’s not a huge shock to see this card going up by 172.63% this month. This artifact allows you to cram a bunch of counters onto any card of your choice, and grants your planeswalkers, even the token ones, the ability to grant extra turns as well.
#1 Optimus Prime, Hero (Shattered Glass)
- Set: Universes Beyond: Transformers
- Printing: Foil
- Increase: +$58.00
- Current Market Price: $88.01
Optimus Prime deserves only good things, and this version of his card went up by a massive 193.27% in the last month. It’s a stunning card, and also makes for a really cool Commander for any artifact decks you might be looking to build.
Next, these are the five cards that gained the most value in the past 30 days after starting with a Market Price over $50.

#5 Chrome Mox
- Set: Masterpiece Series: Kaladesh Inventions
- Printing: Foil
- Increase: +$126.60
- Current Market Price: $845.24
Say what you want about it, but the Kaladesh Inventions series is still a very good-looking line of cards. The Chrome Mox went up by 17.62% in the last month, but a lot of the cards here still do quite well. If you do have one, it might be a good time to sell this one, at the very least.
#4 Mox Diamond
- Set: From the Vault: Relics
- Printing: Foil
- Increase: +$138.38
- Current Market Price: $1,710.33
The From The Vault series was one of the more interesting early attempts at the Secret Lair-style of product. We got some big reprints in them, and some of them have gone up a lot since release. The Mox series is perhaps the most reliable one around, and this version of the Mox Diamond has seen an 8.80% increase this month.
#3 Y'shtola, Night's Blessed (Borderless) (Surge Foil)
- Set: Commander: FINAL FANTASY
- Printing: Foil
- Increase: +$183.01
- Current Market Price: $1,198.78
As the most popular Commander of all time, it’s never a shock to see Y’shtola on any list like this. The most expensive version of the card is this one, and it’s seen an 18.02% increase this time around. It’s just a beautiful card all-around, and is likely to stay expensive unless we somehow get a reprint.
#2 Rhystic Study (Anime Borderless) (Confetti Foil)
- Set: Wilds of Eldraine: Enchanting Tales
- Printing: Foil
- Increase: +$218.79
- Current Market Price: $1,423.00
Rhystic Study was one of the first cards that asked your opponents to pay mana to stop you, and its second only to Smothering Tithe, at least on this list. This very pretty version of the card has seen an 18.17% increase this month, and features a very shiny merfolk with a book. Also, somehow, candles underwater.
#1 Smothering Tithe (Anime Borderless) (Confetti Foil)
- Set: Wilds of Eldraine: Enchanting Tales
- Printing: Foil
- Increase: +$245.94
- Current Market Price: $1,717.21
Smothering Tithe is a staple, and has been for some time. This particular version is doing very well at the moment, with an impressive 16.72% increase. The art really captures the feeling of playing the card, and the villainous “oh ho ho” laugh you should be aiming for when asking if someone will pay two mana to avoid you gaining treasure tokens.
