Price Trends: Magic: The Gathering Cards Climbing in Price - 09/03/2025

We want you to have the best information available when you price cards on the TCGplayer Marketplace. So to help you get the most from your inventory, we’ve put together a downloadable CSV report of Magic: The Gathering cards that have dramatically increased in Market Price in the past 30 days.

(Note: This report only considers Near Mint copies of cards with at least five sales between August 2, 2025 and August 31, 2025.)

(Note: This week we included Near Mint Foil cards, which have been excluded from earlier Magic Price Trends reports. Let us know whether this change affects the value of this report for your business.)

Here are ten highlights from that report. First, we have the five cards that gained the most value in the past 30 days after starting with a Market Price of $10 or less.

Top 5 Price Increases—MTG Cards $10 or Less

#5 Masako the Humorless

  • Set: Champions of Kamigawa
  • Printing: Normal
  • Increase: +$12.62
  • Current Market Price: $19.76

Masako the Humorless has been flat at around $4 for the past year, but the release of Edge of Eternities in late July sent its price spiking.

One of the key new mechanics of EOE is Station, which allows players to tap their creatures to power up Planets and Spacecraft, and the set is filled with cards that reward players for tapping their permanents. Masako pairs perfectly with this theme, especially in Commander decks with The Seriema, which can find Masako on-curve and works with it to turn any creature into an indestructible blocker.

Masako has only been printed once, back in 2004, so the small bump in demand from this Station synergy has been enough to launch its price into orbit.

#4 Astrid Peth

  • Set: Universes Beyond: Doctor Who
  • Printing: Foil
  • Increase: +$12.87
  • Current Market Price: $14.32

The most popular new commander from the Edge of Eternities main set is Ragost, Deft Gastronaut, who turns all Artifacts into Food tokens. Ragost’s colors aren’t quite as dense with Food synergies as black and green are, but Astrid Peth is a notable exception, as Astrid both creates Food and explores every time a Food is sacrificed. And since Astrid is a member of the “new Reserved List” that is Universes Beyond, this card has been especially sensitive to the demand from Ragost players.

#3 Debt of Loyalty

  • Set: Weatherlight
  • Printing: Normal
  • Increase: +$17.71
  • Current Market Price: $26.73

Sales for Debt of Loyalty spiked massively on August 5, in what appears to have been at least partially a speculator-driven buyout (1.5 average copies per buyer).

Debt of Loyalty doesn’t appear to have special synergy with any new cards, so the going theory online is that Debt of Loyalty spiked due to some creator spotlighting it in early August, though we haven’t been able to track down any one piece of content as the likely culprit.

Regardless, Debt of Loyalty has always been a ripe target for speculation. Besides being a member of The Reserved List, it’s generically powerful in Commander. White doesn’t have many tools for taking control of opposing creatures outright, and getting that effect for just three mana is a steal (pun intended). Note however that this card is still below the $36 Market Price it reached in mid-2021, and has already started to correct back downward, so its recent gains may not be lasting.

#2 Legion Extruder (Showcase)

  • Set: Outlaws of Thunder Junction: The Big Score
  • Printing: Foil
  • Increase: +$17.97
  • Current Market Price: $26.09

The normal printing of Legion Extruder saw sustained weeks of elevated sales before and after the release of Edge of Eternities, with the average number of copies per buyer fluctuating between 2 and 4. To me, this reads like competitive players were betting that this artifact which synergizes with other artifacts will be good after the release of an artifact-themed set—a fair bet.

Legion Extruder has seen modest competitive success in the past month. More importantly though, because it’s part of the Big Score subset that was only available in a small fraction of Thunder Junction Play Boosters, it’s been especially sensitive to its newfound popularity. That goes for both the normal version, and the Showcase version…

#1 Legion Extruder (Showcase)

  • Set: Outlaws of Thunder Junction: The Big Score
  • Printing: Normal
  • Increase: +$18.00
  • Current Market Price: $24.05

…in either foil or nonfoil.

Next, these are the five cards that gained the most value in the past 30 days after starting with a Market Price over $10.

Top 5 Price Increases—MTG Cards Over $10

#5 Ifrit - Fury (Rainbow Foil)

  • Set: Secret Lair Drop Series
  • Increase: +$77.38
  • Current Market Price: $457.23

Of the five Secret Lair Bonus Cards featuring Final Fantasy summons in Rainbow Foil, Ifrit (Fury) and Magus Sisters (Endurance) were the only two that the market undervalued initially—which is surprising, given that Fury is banned in Modern. There’s nothing suspicious in the number of copies being sold, so this appears to be a normal correction as the market tries to reach equilibrium on these Bonus Cards.

#4 Traveling Chocobo (Borderless) (Neon Ink Green)

  • Set: FINAL FANTASY
  • Increase: +$103.47
  • Current Market Price: $2,266.80

$103 looks like a significant increase, but it represents less than 5% of this Chocobo’s Market Price. There isn’t anything to read into here, the Neon Ink Chocobos are just really expensive.

#3 Swords to Plowshares (Borderless)

  • Set: MagicFest Cards
  • Increase: +$138.14
  • Current Market Price: $529.78

This promo card (and its counterpart, an Alphinaud card from the FINAL FANTASY TCG) was only available at two MTG events, and through FFTCG organized play. It’s crept up in price organically since June as supply has dwindled.

We don’t see Wizards of the Coast cross-promote with other TCGs very often, so this pair of cards could go down as a unique moment in TCG history.

#2 Traveling Chocobo (Borderless) (Neon Ink Pink)

  • Set: FINAL FANTASY
  • Increase: +$182.81
  • Current Market Price: $2,202.69

Like the Neon Ink Green Traveling Chocobo, the Neon Ink Pink version is so rare and expensive that any minor change in its price is worth hundreds of dollars.

#1 Sothera, the Supervoid (Singularity Foil)

  • Set: Edge of Eternities
  • Increase: +$619.92
  • Current Market Price: $1,432.35

The ultimate chase card of Edge of Eternities entered its presale period massively underrated. Once EOE released, it quickly corrected back up to a price that reflects its rarity.
