Legends of the Force: Get Your Inventory Ready for This Star Wars: Unlimited Set
By Carling Berkhout •
Legends of the Force, the highly anticipated fifth set of Star Wars: Unlimited, releases on July 11, 2025 with prereleases beginning July 4. With new units and mechanics, this set is well-positioned to drive buyer interest across the TCG community.
Set Overview
Legends of the Force introduces 260 new cards, highlighting Force-users from across the Star Wars canon:
- 74 new units and 18 new leader units.
- This expansion nearly triples the number of Force units in the game.
- For the first time in Star Wars: Unlimited, the set will incorporate characters and elements from the non-canon “Legends” continuity, marked with a special overlay in their graphic design.
New Gameplay Mechanics
Legends of the Force debuts two new gameplay mechanics:
- Force Token: Certain card effects –– including all 12 new bases –– will allow players to create the Force token if they don’t already have it. Other cards will allow players to “use the Force” by spending the token for empowered effects.
- Hidden Keyword: Hidden is a new evergreen keyword, similar to Raid, Shielded, or Sentinel. Units with the Hidden keyword cannot be attacked during the turn on which they’re played.

Together, Black Bolt and White Flare contain all and only the 156 Pokémon from the Unova Pokédex. I.e., only Gen V Pokémon, as featured in the 2010 Pokémon video games Pokémon Black and Pokémon White. This gimmick makes Black Bolt and White Flare the spiritual successors to the Pokémon set Scarlet & Violet—151, which contained all 151 Gen I Pokémon. Additionally, the sets together contain a full-card alternate art card for each of these 156 Pokémon, at either Illustration Rare or Special Illustration Rare rarity. |
