TCGplayer.com Named Business of the Year

TCGplayer.com today received CenterState CEO’s 2017 Business of the Year Award. This recognition is given to a business that strengthens Upstate New York by providing a bold vision for economic growth, innovation and community involvement. CenterState CEO is an independent and forward-thinking economic development and business leadership organization in the Upstate New York region.

The theme for this year’s award was “break through” with a focus on businesses that overcame challenges and leveraged their experience to innovate and drive regional growth. It was perfectly fitting, considering TCGplayer’s journey from a small business run out of a living room to a thriving tech company with nearly 200 employees. In 2017, the company’s staff will double in size for the fourth year in a row.

“People think of us as a startup, but we’ve been around for nearly 20 years. After several iterations, we figured out what the collectibles industry needs and we haven’t looked back,” said Chedy Hampson, Founder and CEO of TCGplayer.com. “We never take our foot off the gas. Even when we achieve success, we continue to ask questions and seek feedback to figure out what our industry needs next.”

Over the past month, the company has continued its aggressive expansion with the launch of a revolutionary new eCommerce service for collectible and gaming stores, which gained immediate success with 10% market share within 48 hours of its launch. The company also plans on expanding into new product categories in 2017, including retro video games, comics, sports cards, action figures and other collectibles.

To support this growth, TCGplayer is looking to expand across five departments and continue to grow its technologically advanced workforce.
