Top Selling Sealed Product Right Now — 12/11/2024
By Peter Day •Choosing which sealed products to invest in is an important decision for your business. The right products can yield big returns for your business in just a few transactions, but the wrong products can be a serious burden on your cash flow.
To help you pick the right products more often, we compiled a report of the top selling sealed products on TCGplayer last month. This report will show you which sets are most popular with players and collectors right now, so you can anticipate which products will be easy to sell online.
The report lists the top 100 sealed TCG products by total GMV between November 1 and 30, 2024. Below, we’ve highlighted five of those products. These products were chosen by starting from the top of the overall list and going down, taking the top product of each game that hadn’t been highlighted yet. The five products are ordered below according to their overall rank in the full report.
#1 Surging Sparks Booster Box
Game: Pokémon TCG.
Set: Surging Sparks.
Released: November 8, 2024.
Average Product Value: $175.69.
Surging Sparks returns for another month in the #1 spot. Boxes have added $50 to their Market Price as a whopping six cards from the set have grown to be worth over $100.
We can attribute some of Surging Sparks’ success to timing. Not only did the biggest Pokémon set of the year release the same month as Cyber Weekend (which isn’t usually the case with Pokémon’s delayed schedule for international releases), but it also dropped a week after the release of Pokémon TCG Pocket reminded fans around the world that Pokémon cards are fun to collect and play with.
Throw in the most iconic headlining Pokémon you could as for and the most punishing pull rates of the year and you’ve got a blockbuster Pokémon set. The only thing that could possibly top it is…the next Pokémon set, January’s Prismatic Evolutions, which is poised to be the Scarlet & Violet Series’s answer to Evolving Skies. It’s a great time to be a Pokémon fan or retailer.
#2 Foundations Collector Booster Display
Game: Magic: The Gathering.
Set: Foundations.
Released: November 15, 2024.
Average Product Value: $284.72 ($208.68).
Not to be outdone, Foundations is also back in the #2 spot, with Collector Booster Displays gaining an average of $80 since October. Magic’s new evergreen introductory set will be Standard-legal for at least the next five years, and with tons of new staples for every format (including Commander), it’s clearly meant to be the perfect follow-up product for new Magic fans who are brought in by Universes Beyond products, like the upcoming Final Fantasy and Spider-Man sets.
#3 Premium Booster -The Best- Booster Box
Game: One Piece Card Game.
Set: Premium Booster -The Best-.
Released: November 8, 2024.
Average Product Value: $139.35.
One Piece continues to prove it can compete with the biggest names in the TCG industry with its end-of-year reprint set, simply titled “Premium Booster -The Best-.” Featuring reprints of many of the most collectible and powerful cards in the history of the three-year-old game, the set has managed to outsell other November releases from Disney Lorcana, Star Wars: Unlimited, and even Yu-Gi-Oh.
#4 Quarter Century Bonanza Booster Box
Game: Yu-Gi-Oh!
Set: Quarter Century Bonanza.
Released: November 8, 2024.
Average Product Value: $100.36
Speaking of Yu-Gi-Oh, Konami’s November release shouldn’t be underestimated either. Like Premium Booster -The Best-, Quarter Century Bonanza is a reprint set strategically positioned for the holidays with high-rarity cards for players and collectors. With over 900 cards (counting all the different rarity printings), QCB should hold its value well and have a long shelf life as Konami seeks to shake up the format with a new ban list.
#5 Twilight of the Republic Booster Display
Game: Star Wars: Unlimited.
Set: Twilight of the Republic.
Released: November 8, 2024.
Average Product Value: $74.51
From a retailer’s perspective, the news on Twilight of the Republic looks mixed. While it’s impressive that Star Wars: Unlimited’s third set managed to rank above Disney Lorcana’s Azurite Sea (which also released in November), the sub-MSRP Market Price of these boxes suggest a mismatch between the supply from the publisher and the demand from players. The set’s Legendary cards don’t seem as competitively strong as the Legendaries from Set 1, which (together with a supply shortage) helped those boxes climb to $200. As a result, none of TWI’s non-Hyperspace Legendary cards have managed to hold a value above $30, which is hurting the value of sealed product.
