Valuable Commons and Uncommons In Modern Horizons 3
By Drew Knapp •Modern Horizons sets are often known for carrying high value cards, and the good news is that this translates to basically every rarity across the board. These “premium” sets tend to run a pretty penny, but the estimated value you can get out of a box will often be equitable to what you’re paying out. So, let’s take a look at one of the more recent premium offerings in the form of Modern Horizons 3.
Straight to Modern sets typically hide a large number of staples in them, and these consistently maintain their value. Whether they’re cards that see play in Modern itself, or they are powerful cards that see constant play in Commander, there are cards that players need hiding in these packs. Modern Horizons 3 is no exception, especially when looking at the Modal Dual Faced Cards (or MDFC) that feature good spells on one side and lands on the other.
20 particularly powerful commons and uncommons have risen to the top for Modern Horizons 3, each of them valued at $1 or more (and some Ripple Foil treatments significantly more!), and there are a healthy pile of cards that are always threatening to break through that $1 barrier. Overall, Modern Horizons 3 is a great set to find money in the middle rarities, including all of these favorites:
- Glaring Fleshraker (Ripple Foil)
- Amped Raptor (Ripple Foil)
- Consign to Memory
- Unstable Amulet (Ripple Foil)
- Sink Into Stupor
- Wastescape Battlemage (Ripple Foil)
- Accursed Marauder (Ripple Foil)
- Fell the Profane
- Marionette Apprentice (Retro Frame)
- Solar Transformer (Ripple Foil)
- Witch Enchanter
- Urza’s Cave
- Snapping Voidcraw (Ripple Foil)
- Izzet Generatorium (Ripple Foil)
- Galvanic Discharge (Retro Frame)
- Marionette Apprentice
- Vexing Bauble
- Tranquil Landscape (Ripple Foil)
- Snow-Covered Wastes
- Disciple of Freyalise
That’s a lot of value! As I said, there are also a number of cards that are always running up on the $1 benchmark, and essentially every MDFC is likely going to only gain value over time. Getting to have a great card attached to a land is something that fewer Commander players are sleeping on, so these’ll continue to crawl up and are more than worth acquiring.
Anyone can sell these cards on TCGplayer. All you need to do is list your inventory! For your convenience, we’ve also included a downloadable CSV of the valuable commons and uncommons we’ve covered so far.
