Choosing which sealed products to invest in is an important decision for your business. The right products can yield big returns for your business in just a few transactions, but the wrong products can be a serious burden on your cash flow.

To help you pick the right products more often, we compiled a report of the top selling sealed products on TCGplayer last month. This report will show you which sets are most popular with players and collectors right now, so you can anticipate which products will be easy to sell online.

The report lists the top 100 sealed TCG products by total GMV between August 1 and 31, 2024. Below, we’ve highlighted five of those products. These products were chosen by starting from the top of the overall list and going down, taking the top product of each game that hadn’t been highlighted yet. The five products are ordered below according to their overall rank in the full report.

#1 Bloomburrow - Collector Booster Display

Game: Magic: The Gathering.
Set: Bloomburrow.
Released: August 2, 2024.
Average Product Value: $226.25.

Collector Booster Displays of Bloomburrow, the most recent premier Magic: The Gathering set, managed to outsell Play Booster Displays of the set in August, pushing the latter down to second place on the list of best-selling sealed products for the month. Special variants like the Courageous Critters (Planeswalkers reimagined as animals) and the Raised Foil Anime Cards (featuring alternate art by renowned Japanese illustrators) are only available in Collector Boosters, and their popularity confirms that Magic fans love how Wizards of the Coast is experimenting with the kinds of themes they can pull off in non-Universes Beyond sets. The upcoming set Duskmourn: House of Horror, inspired by VHS-era horror movies, will continue to test how far they can push that particular envelope.

#2 Awakening of the New Era - Booster Box

Game: One Piece Card Game.
Set: Awakening of the New Era.
Released: December 8, 2023.
Average Product Value: $149.46.

Bandai made a second wave of product available for Awakening of the New Era back in July, which kicked off a surge of spending that has continued all through August. Awakening of the New Era booster boxes outsold every other One Piece sealed product last month, and even stole the show from Pokémon’s August release. The set’s top chase card, Gear 5 Manga Monkey.D.Luffy, is still the most expensive card in the One Piece Card Game at well over $3,000 for a Near Mint copy, and one of the most expensive cards printed in the last 12 months of any game.

#3 Shimmering Skies Booster Box

Game: Disney Lorcana
Set: Shimmering Skies.
Released: August 9, 2024.
Average Product Value: $114.51.

The new Lorcana set has been an especially strong release for the Disney TCG. Along with tons of competitive cards, the set also introduced a shift in how high-rarity cards are presented, with Legendaries now getting a glossy texture effect to their artwork, and Enchanted cards getting a completely new card frame. Shimmering Skies boasts seven Enchanted cards with a Market Price over $100 at time of writing, a month after its release.

It’s been over a year since the release of The First Chapter, and while Lorcana fever doesn’t burn as hot as it did in late 2023, it’s still proven that it deserves its spot alongside the One Piece Card Game in the second tier of popular TCGs beneath the big three.

#4 Stellar Crown Booster Box

Game: Pokémon TCG.
Set: Stellar Crown.
Released: September 13, 2024.
Average Product Value: $106.59.

The special Pokémon set Shrouded Fable released on August 2, but with a much weaker roster of collectible critters compared to previous special sets like Paldean Fates and Scarlet & Violet—151, Shrouded Fable couldn’t convince many fans to buy in. Instead, those fans spent their sealed money preordering booster boxes of Stellar Crown, which drops later this week.

The surprising popularity of Twilight Masquerade and its nearly $300 chase card Greninja ex has collectors and investors curious to see if The Pokémon Company can repeat their success. Stellar Crown has the same problem as other Scarlet & Violet sets: it focuses on Gen IX characters and Pokémon who aren’t as recognizable to millennials and casual fans as earlier Pokémon generations. But the dazzling colors in Special Illustration Rare cards like Terapagos ex, the Illustration Rare versions of Squirtle and Bulbasaur, and the trend of tougher pull rates in recent sets might all combine to turn Stellar Crown into another surprise hit.

#5 Shadows of the Galaxy - Booster Display

Game: Star Wars: Unlimited
Set: Shadows of the Galaxy.
Released: July 12, 2024.
Average Product Value: $103.53.

Shadows of the Galaxy has shown remarkable longevity. Booster boxes of Star Wars: Unlimited’s sophomore set outsold presales for Duskmourn Play and Collector Boosters, as well as Booster Boxes for Digimon’s Secret Crisis, which released on August 9. Prices for boxes have dropped significantly, with a Market Price of $86 at time of writing (well below Asmodee’s listed price of $120), so we probably won’t see another product shortage for a Star Wars: Unlimited set like we did for Spark of Rebellion. But the steady sale of boxes more than a month after the set’s release speaks to the solid fan base that SWU has already acquired.
