The first step to serving customer demand is to understand it. So to help you follow what’s currently popular with players and collectors, we’ve put together a pair of downloadable CSV reports of the top-selling Pokémon cards of the past month.

These reports show the name and set of the Pokémon cards with the highest total number of copies sold on the TCGplayer Marketplace between July 1 and July 31. The reports consider cards from different sets to be distinct (even if they have the same name), but do not distinguish copies sold by condition (Near Mint, Lightly Played, etc.) or by printing (Foil, etc.).

The two reports cover cards that had an average sale price in July within two ranges: $50.00 or more, and $1.00 to $49.99.

Here are five highlights from each report.

Top Selling Pokémon Cards: $50 or More

#1 Eevee - 188/167
Set: Twilight Masquerade
Average Sale Price: $50.21

Illustration Rare Eevee spiked in price in July in response to two mild buyouts, which were then followed by even more frantic buying as speculators tried to buy into the first full-art Eevee card we’ve seen in the Scarlet & Violet Series. The low pull rates in Twilight Masquerade compared to previous S&V sets has kept the prices of chase singles in this set high, and convinced speculators that they can go even higher.

#2 Mew ex - 232/091
Set: Paldean Fates
Average Sale Price: $84.13

This Shiny Mew ex, illustrated by USGMEN, is back for another month as the second-bestselling Pokémon card over $50. Its price has remained fairly stable since April, in spite of a massive attempted buyout in May, which suggests that the supply for this card is deep. But its price and the volume of its sales are still high all these months after its release, so the organic demand for USGMEN’s unique art must be even deeper.

#3 Charizard ex - 199/165
Set: Scarlet & Violet—151
Average Sale Price: $113.40

This Special Illustration Rare Charizard ex has dropped (just a bit) from the #1 bestseller last month to the #3 spot. It’s still the top chase card from the most popular set of the Scarlet & Violet Series so far, but with Scarlet & Violet—151 approaching its first year anniversary, the demand for the set has started to ebb, and this Charizard’s price with it. Most of the fans who wanted this card a year ago own one by now.

#4 Greninja ex - 214/167
Set: Twilight Masquerade
Average Sale Price: $231.39

Special Illustration Rare Greninja ex hasn’t slowed down since it debuted as the top chase card in Twilight Masquerade in May. Instead, its price has leapfrogged over the $200 threshold, making it the most expensive card of the Scarlet & Violet Series so far. That crazy price has attracted even more attention and caught Greninja ex in a hype spiral that continues to drive sales and ever-higher prices today. Only time will tell whether this is a short-term fad or the origin of another modern classic like Moonbreon.

#5 Charizard ex - 234/091
Set: Paldean Fates
Average Sale Price: $114.36

This is the fanciest Charizard card printed so far this year, so it’s only natural that it’s still got strong demand behind it.

Top Selling Pokémon Cards: $1.00 to $49.99

#1 Buddy-Buddy Poffin
Set: Temporal Forces
Average Sale Price: $1.93

Buddy-Buddy Poffin sees play in every competitive Pokémon deck that runs Evolution Pokémon—and even a few that don’t, like Lost Zone Box. Players of other TCGs can only dream of the day when they’ll get to search up two cards for the price of one with no costs or downsides (and just a minor restriction on what you can find).

Outside of a Hyper Rare version and a Promo card, Buddy-Buddy Poffin has only been printed once, so players don’t have much choice about which version to pick up.

#2 Earthen Vessel
Set: Paradox Rift
Average Sale Price: $3.85

Just like Buddy-Buddy Poffin, Earthen Vessel is a competitive staple across tons of Pokémon decks that has only been printed once at its base rarity. The upcoming Pokémon set Stellar Crown is going to feature lots of Stellar-type Pokémon cards that require multiple types of Energy to attack, so the ability to search up any type of energy with Earthen Vessel is only going to become more powerful.

#3 Super Rod - 188/193
Set: Paldea Evolved
Average Sale Price: $1.04

Super Rod is (if anything) even more of a staple in Pokémon decks than Buddy-Buddy Poffin and Earthen Vessel, but it ranks lower because it’s been printed so many times before Paldea Evolved. That said, only versions printed since the Scarlet & Violet Series have silver borders instead of the old yellow borders, so players who prefer matching card borders for their decks gravitate toward this printing.

#4 Arven - 166/198
Set: Scarlet & Violet Base Set
Average Sale Price: $1.42

Arven is another two-for-one search card that shows up all over the Pokémon TCG’s Standard format. Along with this version, Arven has been printed as an Uncommon in Obsidian Flames, but the Scarlet & Base Set version has more listings on TCGplayer and is consequently cheaper.

#5 Counter Catcher
Set: Paradox Rift
Average Sale Price: $1.57

Counter Catcher isn’t as ubiquitous as cards like Arven and Earthen Vessel. Still it plays a critical role in Gardevoir decks, which did exceptionally well at the North American International Championships in early June and are expected to be a serious contender at the World Championships later this month.
