Following a lot of interest from sellers on how TCGplayer organizes inventory in the Authentication Center, we have compiled an article of cabinet tips and tricks based on our internal processes.

Stock left to right, top to bottom
Our cabinets are stocked from left to right, top to bottom.

Split by condition and organize by set
We split the inventory by condition and then it is broken down by sets. We place a plastic stand on top of each with a number to help identify which conditions are in cabinets, and we pair this with a reference sheet. Each set is sorted alphabetically. The top drawer is used for supplies and the bottom is used for overstock with a magnet adhered to each drawer to help identify the sets inside them.

Inside each cabinet
Inside each cabinet we use BCW 4-Row Boxes side by side, three in the large (42”) cabinets and two in the small (30”). We use BCW Trading Card Dividers to separate the cards and BCW 2-Piece Slider Boxes to separate the sets inside each box. We insert foam pieces to stop the cards from sliding around as the drawers are opened and closed.

Dedicate one employee per cabinet for efficiency
One employee will work a cabinet at a time. The cabinets have a counter weight but we highly recommend only having one drawer open at a time. Due to the size of the cabinets, there is more than enough space to set them side by side which provides a comfortable amount of room to work. Our employees work at different times to file new cards and pull orders. This prevents them from being on top of each other.

TCGplayer and Sustainable Office Solutions (SOS) work together to design high quality cabinets with drawers specifically sized for the trading card game industry. TCGplayer has partnered with sellers so they can purchase these units at significantly reduced costs by “batching” multiple customer order requests to get lower pricing from the manufacturer.
