The Top 5 Most Anticipated Releases of Q2 2024

It’s time to look at the new TCG releases coming to the TCGplayer Marketplace this spring season! With the end of March just around the corner, we’ve compiled a list of the most anticipated TCG sets releasing between April and June of 2024:
- Magic: The Gathering — Outlaws of Thunder Junction
- Lorcana TCG — Ursula’s Return
- Pokémon — SV06: Twilight Masquerade
- Yu-Gi-Oh! — Legacy of Destruction
- One Piece Card Game — 500 Years in the Future
Release Date: April 19, 2024
Pack Breakdown: Each Play Booster contains 14 Magic: The Gathering cards with the potential to pull 5-8 Commons, 3-6 Uncommons, 1-5 Rare or Mythic Rares, and 1 Land card. There is one guaranteed foil card of any rarity per pack.
What To Expect: Magic’s first ever Western-themed release explores the wild frontier-based plane of the Thunder Junction and focuses on popular villains. Outlaws of Thunder Junction will go all out with its Wild West theme, including highly collectible “Wanted Poster” and “Breaking News” showcase variants as well as a unique subset with 30 exclusive Mythic Rare cards!

Release Date: May 17, 2024
Pack Breakdown: Booster Packs for Disney Lorcana TCG contain 12 random cards, with the chance to pull 6 Commons, 3 Uncommons, 2 cards of a higher rarity (such as Rare, Super Rare or Legendary), and 1 foil card of any rarity.
What To Expect: The wicked sea witch from The Little Mermaid takes center stage in the upcoming release of Ursula’s Return! This set introduces characters from Encanto to the world of Lorcana, with several of the Madrigals appearing as playable cards. Ursula’s Return will also feature highly collectible alternate art reprints of previously printed cards with an ink-like tentacle design on its borders!

Release Date: May 24, 2024
Set Breakdown: This release contains 160 cards. Included in these 160 cards are 6 ACE SPEC Rare and Special Energy cards, 7 Pokémon ex and 7 Tera Pokémon ex, 21 Illustration Rares, 11 Special Illustration Rares, and 6 Hyper Rares.
What To Expect: Themed around the land of Kitakami and the events of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet: The Teal Mask, Twilight Masquerade is the first set for the Pokémon TCG to feature Ogerpon as an collectible ex card, alongside some exclusive new Pokémon Sinistcha ex and Bloodmon Ursaluna ex! Furthermore, the Pokémon Greninja, Dragapult and Magcargo will receive their first ever Terastal ex cards!

Set Breakdown: This release contains a total of 101 card types: 50 Commons, 26 Super Rares, 14 Ultra Rares, and 10 Secret Rares. Additionally, 24 of the cards in this release will also be printed as Quarter Century Secret Rare.
What To Expect: The next chapter of core Yu-Gi-Oh! Booster releases, Legacy of Destruction provides support for popular and well-known play archetypes with new “Melodious,” “Ancient Gear,” “Yubel,” “Lightsworn,” and many more! This set also includes new revamped versions of Yugi’s cards from his final Duel with Atem, as well as brand new cards inspired by that keystone moment in the anime that passionate fans will love to collect!

Release Date: June 28, 2024
Set Breakdown: There are a total of 127 card types in this release: 6 Leader cards, 45 Commons, 30 Uncommons, 26 Rares, 10 Super Rares, 2 Secret Rares, 6 Special Cards, 1 Treasure Rare and 1 DON!! card. The release will also feature Alternate Art versions for cards included in this set.
What To Expect: The One Piece Card Game is officially catching up with current events in the One Piece manga and anime! 500 Years in the Future puts the spotlight on characters and events in the most recent story arc set in the island of Egghead, including Dr. Vegapunk, Shaka, Atlas and Lilith. Also, 6 characters will be making their debut in exclusive Leader cards, including the Revolutionary leader Monkey.D.Dragon!
