Development of Battle Spirits Saga

  1. Will older Battle Spirits cards ever be reprinted with some changes to the artwork or effects (with regard to card text clarity)?

We are looking to bring familiar characters and gameplay elements from the Japanese Battle Spirits release renewed for Saga, while also adding many new and original features exclusive to Saga.

  2. How many colors for Battle Spirits Saga will be available for play and will they have an equal amount of support without "breaking" the game?

Battle Spirits Saga launches with four colors—red, purple, white, and yellow—and we are excited to expand with two more colors—green and blue—in future products. We plan to equally support and balance all colors.

  3. If a banlist was to be created for this game, how often would it be updated depending on the types of formats this game would end up having?

We cannot commit to a set schedule at this point. However, we will carefully monitor the metagame situation and work towards providing the most enjoyable and balanced gameplay experience for our players.

  4. What process did you go through to design the resource system? Having to carry around 30 small gems feels slightly cumbersome –– is there any way to represent them without having to have all the individual items?

The core system was originally developed by Michael Elliott and Bandai team members for the 2008 release of Battle Spirits in Japan. Players can also use “core cards” found in booster packs to represent cores if they don’t want to carry cores around. However, we think playing with the physical cores is one of the most unique and enjoyable aspects of Battle Spirits Saga, so we hope all players will try it out. We’ve also prepared core cases and deck boxes with a core storage as tournament prizing, and are considering developing products to store cores as well.

Battle Spirits Saga (Store Questions)

  1. I want to sell booster boxes. How do I do that?

Thank you for your interest in our products! Please see this guide on our website to get started.

  2. How do stores obtain “promotional material” (banners, videos, posters, tutorials, etc.) to help promote pre-releases, set releases, events, etc.?

We’ve sent out many promotional materials for the launch of Battle Spirits Saga such as demo decks. For interested stores, please contact your distributor to inquire about promotional materials.

Battle Spirits Saga (Rarities)

  1. How do people determine the rarity of the cards?

The card rarity can be found on the bottom right of the card with the letters C, UC, R, X, SPR, or SAGA. Check out our website to learn about and see examples of the rarities!

  2. What is the highest rarity in a booster box?

The highest rarity in the entire set is the Saga Rare. This alternate art version of a card from the main set has a special card frame and design!

  3. What is the possible count or quantity of each rarity type players might expect to find by opening a Dawn of History BSS01 booster pack?

For the rarer cards in BSS01, players can expect one foil version of a Common (C), Uncommon (UC), or Rare (R) card, and a chance to pull a foil X Rare (C), Special Rare (SPR), or Saga Rare (SAGA) in each pack.

The Future of Battle Spirits Saga

  1. As with every CCG, the secondary market is often key to its long term success. What is Bandai's strategy around the quantity of print runs and reprints?

There are many factors that go into determining the quantity of print runs and reprints such as market demand, distributor orders, store pre-orders, production capacity, shipping logistics, and more.

  2. People in my area have been asking, will we be getting a Gundam based set or will it always be inserts/subsets?

We can’t comment on this yet, but we can tell you there will be a lot of interesting products for Battle Spirits Saga going forward! We can’t wait to show you more.
