Price Trends: Yu-Gi-Oh! Cards Climbing in Price - 9/11/24
By Peter Day •We want you to have the best information available when you price cards on the TCGplayer Marketplace. So to help you get the most from your inventory, we’ve put together a downloadable CSV report of Yu-Gi-Oh! cards that have dramatically increased in Market Price in the past 30 days.
(Note: This report only considers Near Mint copies of cards with at least five sales between August 10 and September 8, 2024.)
Here are ten highlights from that report. First, we have the five cards that gained the most value in the past 30 days after starting with a Market Price of $5 or less.
Top 5 Price Increases—YGO Cards $5 or Less
#5 Firewall Dragon Darkfluid - Neo Tempest Terahertz
- Set: Maze of Memories
- Increase: +$5.75
- Current Market Price: $10.13
In August Konami revealed the three new themes that will be introduced in the upcoming Crossover Breakers Booster Pack in the OCG. One of them, M∀LICE, is based around Dark Cyberse monsters, which drove interest and speculation in Cyberse boss monsters including Firewall Dragon Darkfluid.
#4 Gizmek Uka, the Festive Fox of Fecundity
- Set: Eternity Code
- Increase: +$6.45
- Current Market Price: $9.46
Also in August, Branded players discovered a convoluted combo involving Gizmek Uka that allows them to unleash the Gimmick Puppet Nightmare lock against Snake-Eyes Fiendsmith decks during their opponent’s first turn. Predictably, the card spiked in response.
#3 Evil HERO Adusted Gold (Red)
- Set: Legendary Duelists: Season 3
- Increase: +$8.10
- Current Market Price: $11.10
HERO and its cousin Evil HERO are two of the most popular and nostalgic themes for Yu-Gi-Oh fans, and they’re set to get more support in the upcoming OCG set Supreme Darkness. Fans are buying up copies of this crucial extender for Evil HERO in anticipation of Supreme Darkness coming to the TCG, possibly in 2025.
#2 Evil HERO Adusted Gold (Blue)
- Set: Legendary Duelists: Season 3
- Increase: +$8.17
- Current Market Price: $11.91
This is another version of the same card, only its card name is colored blue instead of red. Legendary Duelists: Season 3 included three different versions of the Ultra Rares in the set, (red, blue, and gold/normal) in honor of the three dorm colors in the Yu-Gi-Oh GX anime.
#1 Snake-Eyes Flamberge Dragon
- Set: Age of Overlord
- Increase: +$8.26
- Current Market Price: $10.88
Sales of Snake-Eyes Flamberge Dragon spiked after the reveal of the Forbidden & Limited List update on August 31, which went into effect on September 2. Snake-Eyes has been a top-tier theme for a while, and while the F&L update hit the deck by limiting Snake-Eye Ash and Snake-Eyes Poplar, players still consider Snake-Eyes Fiendsmith the deck to beat in the new format. Snake-Eyes Flamberge Dragon is just as strong in the deck as it was before, only now it’s arguably even more important as a way for the deck to play around Nibiru, The Primal Being, which the deck could previously handle with Apollousa, Bow of the Goddess (which is now banned).
Next, these are the five cards that gained the most value in the past 30 days after starting with a Market Price over $5.
Top 5 Price Increases—YGO Cards Over $5
#5 Firewall Dragon Singularity (Starlight Rare)
- Set: Cyberstorm Access
- Increase: +$21.79
- Current Market Price: $49.55
Like Firewall Dragon Darkfluid, Firewall Dragon Singularity is a powerful Extra Deck monster that cares about Cyberse monsters, which means it could see more play if and when the upcoming Cyberse-filled OCG theme M∀LICE makes it over to the TCG.
#4 Sky Striker Ace - Raye (Alternate Art) (Quarter Century Secret Rare)
- Set: Battles of Legend: Terminal Revenge
- Increase: +$24.14
- Current Market Price: $180.51
While many of the Quarter Century Secret Rare cards in Terminal Revenge have dropped in price over time, Sky Striker Ace - Ray has proven to be one of the exceptions that collectors are still excited to find if they don’t pull Dragon Master Magia. The sales volume for this card was low in August, but a few sales of over $200 were enough to push its Market Price even higher.
#3 Diabellstar the Black Witch (Quarter Century Secret Rare)
- Set: Age of Overlord
- Increase: +$27.64
- Current Market Price: $121.97
Since Diabellstar the Black Witch is another part of the format-boogieman Snake-Eyes Fiendsmith deck, prices for this highly collectible version of the card sank in August as players expected the card to get hit in the next Forbidden & Limited List update. But Diabellstar and her Sinful Spoils cards completely dodged the F&L update, which sent this card’s price rocketing back up. With more Sinful Spoils cards on the way in Raging Abyss, which releases on October 11, the bounty on Diabellstar’s head could just keep rising for the foreseeable future.
#2 Blue-Eyes White Dragon (Secret Pharaoh's Rare)
- Set: Magnificent Mavens
- Increase: +$31.75
- Current Market Price: $221.87
Along with Crossover Breakers and Supreme Darkness, another OCG release that’s shaping the TCG’s market is the Advent of the Eyes of Blue Structure Deck. As Kaiba’s ace monster, Blue-Eyes White Dragon is one of the most iconic cards in the entire franchise, so international players are understandably eager for the new OCG cards to make their way to the TCG. The renewed interest in BEWG has pushed this high-rarity version of the 3000 ATK monster to new heights.
#1 Dragon Master Magia (Quarter Century Secret Rare)
- Set: Battles of Legend: Terminal Revenge
- Increase: +$47.11
- Current Market Price: $686.53
Along with ol’ blue-eyes, anticipation for the Eyes of Blue Structure Deck has also raised the price of Dragon Master Magia, a ridiculously rare card with just one printing (at Quarter Century Secret Rare). As a new fusion of two of the most popular Yu-Gi-Oh monsters ever, Dragon Master Magia has never fallen below $400, and it seems poised to break the $800 threshold in anticipation of the new BEWG support that may be coming to the TCG.
