We want you to have the best information available when you price cards on the TCGplayer Marketplace. So to help you get the most from your inventory, we’ve put together a downloadable CSV report of Pokémon cards that have dramatically increased in Market Price since the start of June 2024.

(Note: This report only considers Near Mint copies of cards with at least five sales between June 1 and June 12, 2024.)

Here are ten highlights from that report. First, we have the five cards that gained the most value in June 2024 after starting with a Market Price of $20 or less.

Top 5 Price Increases—PKMN Cards $20 or Less

#5 Miraidon ex - 244/198

  • Set: Scarlet & Violet Base Set
  • Increase: +$4.00
  • Current Market Price: $23.46

The release of Twilight Masquerade on May 24 led to Charizard ex decks falling out of favor, replaced by Dragapult ex and Lugia VSTAR decks. Miraidon decks have a great matchup against both of those decks, so every version of SVI Miraidon (including this extra-fancy version) has seen higher demand. That demand could increase even further thanks to Mike Gibbs’ recent 11th place finish with the deck at NAIC, the largest International Pokémon tournament ever.

#4 Lumineon V (Alternate Full Art)

  • Set: Brilliant Stars
  • Increase: +$4.25
  • Current Market Price: $21.82

Lumineon V continues to be played in Standard, but the price spike on this alternate-art version had nothing to do with competitive trends. It was due entirely to a buyout on June 4th, when the number of copies per buyer rose to 11.8 up from 1.0 the day before.

#3 Tapu Koko ex - 247/182

  • Set: Paradox Rift
  • Increase: +$4.36
  • Current Market Price: $18.05

Illustration Rare Tapu Koko ex was bought in massive quantities on May 17 during our Mayhem promotion. With a copies-per-buyer that day of 2.9, this surge looks like it was a combination of organic demand and buyouts. Whatever the cause, all that buying removed the lower-cost copies from the marketplace, and the card’s Market Price has been trending up ever since.

#2 Koraidon - 014 (Pokemon Center Exclusive)

  • Set: SV Promos
  • Increase: +$4.73
  • Current Market Price: $18.81

This promo comes from the Pokémon Center-exclusive Miraidon-themed Elite Trainer Box from Scarlet & Violet Base Set. The available supply is low enough that slightly-higher-than-average purchases in June were enough to raise its Market Price.

#1 Energy Retrieval

  • Set: Ancient Origins
  • Increase: +$7.02
  • Current Market Price: $26.87

Energy Retrieval is a key card in the new Raging Bolt/Ogerpon deck. The deck’s success at NAIC has increased the demand for all versions of this card, including this old, rare version from 2015.

Next, these are the five cards that gained the most value in May 2024 after starting with a Market Price over $20.

Top 5 Price Increases—PKMN Cards Over $20

#5 Umbreon GX

  • Set: Hidden Fates: Shiny Vault
  • Increase: +$30.34
  • Current Market Price: $160.06

Umbreon GX is the 2nd most valuable card from Hidden Fates, one of the most beloved Pokémon sets of the last 10 years. It’s been trending upward slowly all year, but this particular price spike was triggered by a buyout on June 2 when the copies-per-buyer rose to 11.0.

#4 Gengar & Mimikyu GX

  • Set: Team Up
  • Increase: +$46.75
  • Current Market Price: $101.79

Note that this is the lowest-rarity version of Gengar & Mimikyu-GX, not the alternate-art version (although which version looks better is a matter of taste). It’s been targeted for buyouts repeatedly in 2024, and the last major buyout on June 1 seems to have been the one that finally triggered a runaway price spike.

#3 Espeon VMAX (Alternate Art Secret)

  • Set: Fusion Strike
  • Increase: +$60.04
  • Current Market Price: $322.31

All of the most popular alternate-art cards from 2021 have been rising in price ever since they rotated out of Standard in April, which meant there was no longer any danger of them being reprinted. A buyout on June 2 pushed the copies-per-buyer for the day up to 13.5 and caused the card’s Market Price to reach an all-time high.

#2 Rayquaza VMAX (Alternate Art Secret)

  • Set: Evolving Skies
  • Increase: +$61.79
  • Current Market Price: $516.56

Just like Espeon VMAX, Rayquaza VMAX has been rising steadily since April but reached a new all-time high after a buyout on June 2 pushed the copies-per-buyer up to 17.0

#1 Glaceon VMAX (Alternate Art Secret)

  • Set: Evolving Skies
  • Increase: +$65.25
  • Current Market Price: $300.48

Sensing a pattern? Glaceon VMAX started trending up in April, and entered the stratosphere after a buyout on June 2 pushed the copies-per-buyer up to 14.0.
