We want you to have the best information available when you price cards on the TCGplayer Marketplace. So to help you get the most from your inventory, we’ve put together a downloadable CSV report of Magic: The Gathering cards that have dramatically increased in Market Price since the start of April 2024.

(Note: This report only considers Near Mint copies of cards with at least five sales between April 1 and April 17, 2024.)

Here are ten highlights from that report. First, we have the five cards that gained the most value in April 2024 after starting with a Market Price of $5 or less.

Top 5 Price Increases—MTG Cards $5 or Less

#5 Court of Locthwain (Extended Art)

  • Set: Commander: Wilds of Eldraine
  • Increase: +$9.07
  • Current Market Price: $12.64

Interest in Court of Locthwain exploded after the reveal of Obeka, Splitter of Seconds, the most popular new commander from Outlaws of Thunder Junction. Players who can multiply their upkeep steps with Obeka will exile tons of cards with Court of Locthwain every turn, giving them more options to cast. Court of Locthwain has only been printed in one set, so its price was especially sensitive to the sudden uptick in demand.

#4 Extravagant Replication

  • Set: Commander: Streets of New Capenna
  • Increase: +$9.81
  • Current Market Price: $13.62

Just like Court of Locthwain, Extravagant Replication combines well with the extra upkeep steps provided by Obeka, Splitter of Seconds, and it has only been printed in one Magic set so far.

#3 Court of Vantress

  • Set: Commander: Wilds of Eldraine
  • Increase: +$11.13
  • Current Market Price: $15.38

Court of Vantress belongs to the same cycle of cards as Court of Locthwain, and also saw a huge boom in demand once players saw that it combos with Obeka, Splitter of Seconds. Just like Court of Locthwain, the monarch status it introduces to the game also works well with Obeka.

#2 Court of Vantress (Extended Art)

  • Set: Commander: Wilds of Eldraine
  • Increase: +$12.09
  • Current Market Price: $15.78

The extended art version of Court of Vantress went up in value for the same reason as the normal version: players want it for their Commander decks led by Obeka, Splitter of Seconds.

#1 Court of Locthwain

  • Set: Commander: Wilds of Eldraine
  • Increase: +$13.55
  • Current Market Price: $17.69

You may have noticed a theme this month. The normal version of Court of Locthwain grew even more than the extended art version thanks to the runaway popularity of Obeka, Splitter of Seconds.

Next, these are the five cards that gained the most value in April 2024 after starting with a Market Price over $5.

Top 5 Price Increases—MTG Cards Over $5

#5 Balin’s Tomb - Ancient Tomb

  • Set: Commander: The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth
  • Increase: +$11.19
  • Current Market Price: $108.64

This version of Ancient Tomb is part of a 30-card group of reprints called Realms and Relics, which were only available in Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth Box Topper boosters and Collector Boosters. With supply for Lord of the Rings Collector Boosters drying up, prices are rising for many of these high-value reprints from the most popular Magic set of 2023.

#4 Chrome Mox (Borderless)

  • Set: Double Masters
  • Increase: +$11.67
  • Current Market Price: $133.79

This version of Chrome Mox is one of several exotic printings of top-tier cEDH, Commander, and Legacy staples that have been going up in price recently.

#3 The One Ring (Borderless Poster)

  • Set: Universes Beyond: The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle Earth
  • Increase: +$12.81
  • Current Market Price: $172.41

This version of The One Ring has gone up in value every month since it released, thanks to its unique art, and to The One Ring’s dominance over every format where it’s legal. Because the March 11 Banned and Restricted Announcement didn’t mention The One Ring, players have become more confident that The One Ring is a safe investment that won’t be banned in Modern any time soon.

#2 Phyrexian Dreadnought

  • Set: Mirage
  • Increase: +$32.98
  • Current Market Price: $154.63

Phyrexian Dreadnought is a member of the Reserved List, a group of cards that Magic publisher Wizards of the Coast has promised never to reprint. Like many other Reserved List cards, its price has been rising since the start of 2024—the latest uptick in an annual cycle of upward and downward movements as speculators’ interest in the Reserved List waxes and wanes.

#1 The Tabernacle at Pendrell Vale

  • Set: Legends
  • Increase: +$137.50
  • Current Market Price: $2,400.00

Just like Phyrexian Dreadnought, The Tabernacle at Pendrell Vale is a member of the Reserved List that has gone up recently thanks to renewed interest in these cards by speculators.
