Navigating Murders at Karlov Manor and its Variants
By Janice Rivera-Pagan •It’s time to ready your magnifying glasses, Murders at Karlov Manor is now available for presale prior to its official release of February 9, 2024! This newest Magic release is brimming with puzzling and whimsical new card treatments. To help our sellers gather clues and navigate the mysteries of this set, we’ve generated a complete breakdown of what cards they can expect in this release.
We’ll first cover some frequently asked questions about Murders at Karlov Manor, then go through all the cards as they appear in numerical order.
Q: Where can I find the exclusive Commander deck cards, the Special Guest cards, and the Ravnica: Clue Edition cards?
A: Cards that were printed for Murders at Karlov Manor are part of the main set, Murders at Karlov Manor and have the set abbreviation MKM. Cards that were printed exclusively for Commander and older reprints that were slotted into the Commander Decks are found in Commander: Murders at Karlov Manor and have a unique set abbreviation (MKC) and set symbol.
The exclusive Special Guest cards and Ravnica: Clue Edition cards also have unique card numbers and set abbreviations. The Special Guest cards are a new addition to Magic: The Gathering releases and can be found in the Special Guests set with a (SPG) set code, whereas the Ravnica: Clue Edition cards are part of the exclusive set Ravnica: Clue Edition (CLU).
Q: Why can’t I list the Buy-A-Box promo, Wojek Investigator (Extended Art)?
A: Due to concerns from sellers and Wizards of the Coast’s policy, this card will not be available to list until the start of release events (February 9, 2024).
Q: How can I tell if a card is a Variant Card in the Seller Portal?
A: All variant cards feature their Variant Type in parentheses after the card name. Examples of these will be (Borderless), (Showcase) and (Extended Art). When exporting inventory and sorting by card number, all Variants will be above card number 286 in the set Murders at Karlov Manor.
Q: How do I list my Showcase card if it has the Invisible Ink foiling?
A: There are a total of 41 cards in this release that incorporate a police dossier-Showcase theme (10 Uncommons, 17 Rares and 14 Mythic Rares). Only a “select” number of these Showcase cards can also appear exclusively in Collector Boosters with a unique “invisible ink” foiling that appears under UV light.
When looking through the set Murders at Karlov Manor on Marketplace, these special foil cards will have the identifiers (Showcase) (Invisible Ink) next to their card name and include all card numbers between 377 through 389.
Q: How can I tell if my Showcase card variant is Serial Numbered?
A: There are 7 Showcase cards available in Murders at Karlov Manor which feature a unique Ravnica-inspired showcase treatment. These 7 cards are also available with a double rainbow foil treatment and a serial number stamp:
Aurelia, The Law Above (Showcase) (317)
Lazav, Wearer of Faces (Showcase) (318)
Niv-Mizzet, Guildpact (Showcase) (319)
Rakdos, Patron of Chaos (Showcase) (320)
Teysa, Opulent Oligarch (Showcase) (321)
Trostani, Three Whispers (Showcase) (322)
Vannifar, Evolved Enigma (Showcase) (323)
Serial Numbered variants of these cards will have (Serial Numbered) written next to their card name when listing on TCGplayer.
Please note: We recommend sellers list these Serialized cards as Listings with Photos to better showcase these unique and incredibly rare card variants for sale.

- If the card was previously printed as a foil-only Mystery Booster Retail Exclusive, it will not be added to The List Reprints (this would separate printings of the same card in the catalog) - The non-foil printings will not be listable until release day (February 9, 2024), and cannot be presold.
Cards from The List can be found in the below locations for Murders at Karlov Manor:

This is because the cards are sorted into sets based on where the card could FIRST be located. As there is no difference between the versions that are in ALL previous Promo Packs, inventorying the items where they FIRST appear helps keep new items more orderly.
- One Arena Promo card granting an in-game pack (Regional; Where Arena is not available, Murders at Karlov Manor will be three cards.)
