When buying and selling in large quantities (often referred to as “bulk”) it can be incredibly frustrating to identify which cards are worth pulling out to sell individually. This article is the latest addition to a series of guides that are meant to help Bulk Box enthusiasts know which cards to look for when sifting through commons and uncommons. In today’s publication we are going to discuss common and uncommon cards above $2 that were printed in various Commander Products ranging from the first Commander Deck which was released in 2011, to Commander 2021 which was released in 2021. This article will also include cards from Commander’s Arsenal, Commander Legends, Commander Anthology, & Commander Anthology II.

Delving into the commons and uncommons contained in the preconstructed decks from Commander, we have plenty of cards above $2 worth noting. The first and most impressively priced one is Aura Shards. Aura Shards is a staple for Green/White Commander strategies, and since there aren’t many printings of this card it sustains a higher price! The other cards from Commander to keep an eye out for while searching through bulk cards are Anger, Bojuka Bog, Buried Alive, Dimir Signet, Eternal Witness, Fellwar Stone, Ghostly Prison, Hull Breach, Kodama’s Reach, Lightning Greaves, Mother of Runes, Path to Exile, Propaganda, Pyrohemia, Skullclamp, Sol Ring, Spike Feeder, and Windfall. While Dimir Signet is the only one of the Signet “Cycle” worth over $2, it is still worth keeping the other Signets in mind while going through your bulk! Azorius Signet was not printed in the original Commander decks. Prices can fluctuate on your bulk over time and the Signet Cycle are solid Commander staples widely used across the format. These cards may not be as expensive as Aura Shards, but they are still worth pulling out of bulk collections!

Aura Shards

Next up we have: Commander 2013! This set also has a higher value card,
Lim-Dul’s Vault. The rising popularity of Competitive Commander or cEDH has brought this card back to the forefront of Commander players' minds. This card works extremely well when searching for counterspells or either half of the two card combo that is Demonic Consultation and Thassa’s Oracle. With the popularity of Black/Blue strategies in Commander on the rise, Lim-Dul’s Vault allows you to find key pieces of your strategy by sifting through 5 cards in your deck at a time. The Commander 2013 printing of Lim-Dul’s Vault is also the only printing in a modern border, as the only other printing is from Alliances. Other meaningful commons and uncommons fromCommander 2013 are Baleful Strix, Basalt Monolith, Bojuka Bog, Boros Charm, Darksteel Mutation, Goblin Bombardment, Krosan Grip, Phyrexian Reclamation, Propaganda, Seaside Citadel, Sol Ring, Spoils of Victory, Swiftfoot Boots, and Wayfarer’s Bauble. While Seaside Citadel is the only one of the “Tri-Color Land Cycle” worth over $2, it is still worth keeping the other Tri-Color Lands in mind while going through your bulk! Prices can fluctuate on your bulk over time and the Tri-Color Lands are solid Commander staples widely used across the format. The other lands in the cycle are Arcane Sanctum, Crumbling Necropolis, Jungle Shrine, and Savage Lands.

Our next set of preconstructed decks, Commander 2014, gives us a powerful card for Elf strategies in
Priest of Titania. Kaldheim recently brought the creature type Elf back to the forefront of the Commander community hive mind, and Priest of Titania holds a high price as it is an important piece of acceleration for Elf tribal decks. Commander 2014 is unique in that it was the only time preconstructed Commander decks only contained one color in each deck. Names to look out for when going through Commander 2013 cards would be Arcane Lighthouse, Bojuka Bog, Elemental // Beast (3/3) Double-sided Token, Elf Druid // Beast (4/4) Double-sided Token, Emblem - Teferi, Temporal Archmage // Zombie (Blue) Token, Essence Warden, Pongify, Reliquary Tower, Skullclamp, Sol Ring, Swiftfoot Boots, Thran Dynamo, Wayfarer’s Bauble, Wurm (Deathtouch) // Goat Double-sided Token and Wurm (Lifelink) // Goat Double-sided Token

Skullclamp
is the most expensive common/uncommon from the Commander 2015 preconstructed decks! The ability to draw two cards by equipping a 1 toughness creature has been attractive to players since the 2004 release of Skullclamp in the set Darksteel. It’s no surprise this card continues to be powerful in token and sacrifice based strategies in Commander. The other cards worth remembering from Commander 2015 are Aura of Silence, Basalt Monolith, Coldsteel Heart, Eternal Witness, Fellwar Stone, Krosan Grip, Lightning Greaves, Phyrexian Reclamation, Preordain, Rapid Hybridization, Reliquary Tower, Rite of the Raging Storm, Sol Ring, Spirit (Enchantment) // Cat Double-Sided Token, Swiftfoot Boots, Thought Vessel, Vandalblast, Wayfarer’s Bauble, and Windfall.

The next set, Commander 2016, has
Chain of Vapor as a high end chase card to be found in bulk collections. Chain of Vapor is a cheap interaction spell that has been popular in Commander for some time now. Competitive Commander has only solidified this card’s popularity in the format. However, there are also a few other above $2 commons/uncommons you can find in Commander 2016! This list includes the cards Baleful Strix, Boros Charm, Farseek, Fellwar Stone, Ghostly Prison, Lightning Greaves, Ogre // Bird (Blue) Double-sided Token, Propaganda, Reliquary Tower, Seaside Citadel, Skullclamp, Sol Ring, Sphere of Safety, Swiftfoot Boots, Swords to Plowshares, Whispersilk Cloak, and Windfall. As mentioned earlier in the article, Seaside Citadel is the only one of the “Tri-Color Land Cycle” worth over $2. It may still be worth keeping the other Tri-Color Lands in mind while going through your bulk! Prices can fluctuate on your bulk over time and the Tri-Color Lands are solid Commander staples widely used across the format.

While looking through commons and uncommons in the Commander 2017 preconstructed decks,
Herald’s Horn will be the card to keep an eye out for. This card carries a hefty price tag because it is a Commander staple for tribal based decks. The static ability of reducing the mana value by 1 of a creature type of your choice, coupled with the ability to potentially “draw” extra cards keeps this card relevant in all parts of a game of Commander. There also have not been a ton of reprints since this card premiered in the Commander 2017 decks. Commander 2017 has some other good finds, including Blood Artist, Bloodline Necromancer, Cat Dragon (009) // Dragon (007) Double-sided Token, Curse of Disturbance, Dragon (007) // Gold (010) Double-sided Token, Dragonspeaker Shaman, Elemental Bond, Fellwar Stone, Go for the Throat, Lightning Greaves, Pawn of Ulamog, Read the Bones, Skullclamp, Sol Ring, Swiftfoot Boots, Swords to Plowshares, Temur Sabertooth, Vampire (004) // Zombie (005) Double-sided Token and Wayfarer's Bauble

Commander 2018 has
Loyal Apprentice as the top priced common/uncommon. In artifact based commander decks such as Breya, Etherium Shaper or Daretti, Scrap Savant are always looking for extra artifacts to sacrifice for various reasons. Loyal Apprentice is a great way to get a “free” thopter just for having your Commander in play! The “Loyal Creature” cycle all give various bonuses for controlling your Commander, and a couple have seen increasing prices due to the rising popularity of the Commander format. The other commons and uncommons to look out for from Commander 2018 are Bojuka Bog, *Dimir Signet, Dragon Egg // Dragon Double-sided Token, Geode Golem, Loyal Guardian, *Mountain Valley, Ponder, *Seaside Citadel, Sol Ring, Swiftfoot Boots, Wild Growth, and Worn Powerstone. Mountain Valley is the only one of the “Slow Fetchland” cycle worth over $2. The other land from this cycle printed in Commander 2018 is named Rocky Tar Pit. It may still be worth keeping these cards in mind while going through your bulk! Prices can fluctuate on your bulk over time and the “ETB Tapped Fetchlands” are solid Commander staples widely used across the format. This also applies for the “Signet Cycle” cards and the “Tri-Color Lands” as well when looking at Commander 2018 bulk.

Commander 2019 has a small list of cards worth finding when sorting bulk, with the most expensive being
Lightning Greaves. The remaining cards on the list include Farseek, Ghostly Prison, Reliquary Tower, Sol Ring and Thran Dynamo.

Skullclamp
takes the cake as the most expensive card in the Commander 2020 decks, making it our first two-time most expensive common or uncommon of this article! If that doesn’t tell you how desirable this card is then I am not sure what will. While looking for your Skullclamps, you should also pull out any Arcane Signet, Lightning Greaves, Propaganda, Reliquary Tower, Sol Ring, Unclaimed Territory, Wilderness Reclamation or Windfall cards that you see. These cards are consistent staples that are always good to trade or sell.

Commander: Zendikar Rising only has a couple cards to keep an eye out for, but the most expensive one is Dimir Signet. This card is joined by Arcane Signet and Sol Ring for items worth pulling out of your Commander: Zendikar Rising cards.

Commander: Kaldheim brings us to
Ghostly Prison as the chase card to find in your bulk. Ghostly Prison is great because it allows you to continue setting up the late game of your deck while taxing your opponent’s resources for attacking you. In Commander, getting to the late game for your big finishers and combos is why many players seek out Ghostly Prison or Propaganda to make sure they can reach these critical points in their gameplan. Ghostly Prison was even seeing play in a Modern enchantment based deck for a period of time! The Commander: Kaldheim printing also features new artwork. This card is joined by Arcane Signet, Sol Ring, Swiftfoot Boots, and Windfall on the list of desirable cards to lookout for in your bulk.

Commander 2021 brings more reprints of the previously discussed Commander staples that are worth pulling out, but the most desirable card to find is Serum Visions. Serum Visions is a good Cantrip/Card manipulation spell for Commander like Ponder or Preordain which were previously mentioned in other Commander Decks. For 1 Mana these cards allow you to potentially create better draw steps while also replacing themselves by drawing you a card. This can be powerful in early turns of a game or when trying to amass large amounts of spells for a combo. Other cards worth pulling out in Commander 2021 are Arcane Signet, Ghostly Prison, Ponder, Rapid Hybridization, Reliquary Tower & Sol Ring.

Commander’s Arsenal is a Commander Series product that contains 18 foil cards, 10 Oversized Foil cards, among some other Commander related items used for gameplay. While this followed a less traditional structure than any of the other released Commander products, there are still Commons and Uncommons in this set worth keeping an eye out for. The most notable of the cards is
Rhystic Study. Foil Rhystic Study is worth a lot of money, so if you see one of these make sure you keep it set aside somewhere! The Command Tower and Loyal Retainers contained in this set are also worth a not-so-bulk price.

Rhystic Study

Commander Anthology is a complete reprint of previously released Commander decks. The decks are Heavenly Inferno from Commander (
Kaalia of the Vast), Evasive Maneuvers from Commander 2013 (Derevi, Empyrial Tactician), Guided by Nature from Commander 2014 (Freyalise, Llanowar's Fury), and Plunder the Graves from Commander 2015 (Meren of Clan Nel Toth). Priest of Titania in the Guided by Nature deck is the most expensive card in Commander Anthology, making it our second two-time most expensive card in this article. Other cards to keep an eye out for while searching your Commander Anthology bulk are Anger, Bant Panorama, Basalt Monolith, Bojuka Bog, Crystal Vein, Darksteel Mutation, Diabolic Tutor, Duergar Hedge-Mage, Elemental Token (009), Elf Druid Token (011), Essence Warden, Eternal Witness, Krosan Grip, Lightning Greaves, Mother of Runes, Path to Exile, Primal Growth, Pyrohemia, *Rakdos Signet, Seaside Citadel, Shattered Angel, Skullclamp, Sol Ring, Swiftfoot Boots, Syphon Mind, Thought Vessel, Treefolk Token (015), and Wellwisher. Commander Anthology also has 5 other Signets besides Rakdos Signet that you may want to keep an eye out for while going through your bulk.

Commander Anthology Volume II, like Commander Anthology is a complete reprint of previously released Commander decks. The decks reprinted in this set are Devour for Power from Commander (The Mimeoplasm), Built from Scratch from Commander 2014 (Daretti, Scrap Savant), Wade into Battle from Commander 2015 (Kalemne, Disciple of Iroas), and Breed Lethality from Commander 2016 (Atraxa, Praetors' Voice). Arcane Lighthouse in the Built from Scratch deck is the most expensive card in Commander Anthology Volume II. Other cards to keep an eye out for while searching your bulk from Commander Anthology Volume II are Arcane Sanctum, Basalt Monolith, Buried Alive, Coldsteel Heart, *Dimir Signet, Eternal Witness, Fellwar Stone, Lightning Greaves, Reliquary Tower, Rite of the Raging Storm, Seaside Citadel, Sol Ring, Stitch Together, Swiftfoot Boots, Syphon Mind, Thought Vessel, Wayfarer's Bauble, Windfall, Worn Powerstone, Wurm Token (Deathtouch), and Wurm Token (Lifelink). Commander Anthology Volume II also has 6 other Signets besides Dimir Signet that you may want to keep an eye out for while going through your bulk.

Commander Legends was a draft based Commander set that reprinted many of the staples Commander players use often in their decks alongside many new, never-before-seen cards. Most cards in Commander Legends tend to have two versions available within the set.
Sol Ring (Extended Art) is the most expensive common or uncommon card printed in Commander Legends. Other cards to look for when searching through your Commander Legends bulk include Arcane Denial (Extended Art), Arcane Signet, Arcane Signet (Extended Art), Boros Charm (Extended Art), Command Tower (Extended Art), Counterspell, Counterspell (Extended Art), Eternal Witness, Fyndhorn Elves (Extended Art), Generous Gift, Generous Gift (Extended Art), Kodama's Reach (Extended Art), Myriad Landscape (Extended Art), Path of Ancestry (Extended Art), Preordain (Extended Art), Reliquary Tower, Reliquary Tower (Extended Art), Sol Ring, Swiftfoot Boots, Swiftfoot Boots (Extended Art), Swords to Plowshares, Swords to Plowshares (Extended Art), Thought Vessel, Thought Vessel (Extended Art), Three Visits, and Three Visits (Extended Art).

Many of the cards above have had reprints in other sets, and many of those reprints are just as valuable as the printings that are mentioned in this article - if not worth even more! I hope you are just as excited as I am about finding lost treasures in Bulk Bins or when buying collections. If you found this article helpful, please share it with your friends and look forward to Bulk Bin Bargains #4!
